132. Glorifying Allah 100 times when one goes to bed

When you go to bed, glorify Him and praise Him and magnify Him One hundred times: that will be one hundred on the tongue and a thousand in the scales.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "Who among you does 2,500 bad deeds in one day?’ They said: ‘How could we not count (our sins)?’ He said: ‘The Shaytaan comes to any one of you whilst he is praying and says, Remember this, remember that, until he finishes his prayer and does not do (this dhikr), or he comes to him when he is lying down and makes him sleepy, until he falls asleep (without doing this dhikr).’” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 3332]

I'm the type of person who gives 200% at work, Quite literally from the first moment I come to work till the last minute I'm doing something, barely rest, I am passionate about my work but I also believe that the money I'm getting from my work has to be 100% justifiable.

But lately that attitude is slowly burning me out.

I came to another company and the work culture is different, they don't have expectations as long as you finish your duties, and they provide plenty of overtime, I'm starting Masters Degree today, so sometimes between work "bursts" I try to study a little bit and catch up on some stuff that benefit me (and as a consequence, my work, since my studies are related).

The question is, I do lots of overtime on this job, And I feel that when I study or relax a little bit at work, then do overtime to work more, then It's almost as If I'm wasting time in order to do overtime for my own benefit.

Not to brag but what takes most people days or hours to do I can do in mere hours or minutes because of my technical knowledge (macros, automations, programming skills), so I'm pretty efficient.

There's no clear definition on what constitutes a daily checklist here that if you do then "you've satisfied your duties"

Is the overtime money I'm getting haram? Is being too efficient, finishing duties fast and then relaxing at work not permissible?

I tried to google it but I'm lost on the keywords.

Thank you!

Assalam Alaykum,

I am a revert in the process of learning Arabic but in the meantime I learn Quran recitation verbally since I can't read Arabic.

My fiancé is Arab born Muslim and helps with that.

I was learning to recite Ayat Al-Kursi with him. I have a confusion about the last line. Every resource i use to learn it (transliteration and verbal) says that the last part goes "... Aliyul-Azim" but when I say this my fiancé said it should be "Aliyul-ALAzim" with a distinctive AL before Azim (I am just try to transcribe the way he says it. He did not write this). I am a little confused how I should do it. I don't want either of us to be saying it wrong. I just want to make sure I have the correct way of reciting it. Thank you.

Hello to all, I'm not Muslim - just simply interested in learning. Specifically interested in learning about what the Prophet pbuh taught while he was here, who he was, what he did, etc. There are so many resources, don't know where to start as a beginner. Thanks :)

So like most of us know there is not really a country or organization who support the ummah.

What if, our talented (app)developers make an app/program for wich we can subscribe and pay a small amount of money monthly. And this money collected can act likr an umbrella for us? And the app/program can give daily news/ideas/updates about its ummah. So that people can have something to learn and entertain instead of only give money.

And that it should be regional, like country/and if needed state/city. And if someone from that region needs help, the program leaders act on it. Everything opensource and transparrent.

Imagine it growing so much it has the voice to effect countrys and their actions.

Just an idea, please tell me what you guys think.

Because i would love to donate money to this instead of netflix/amazone prime or whatever monthly.

OnePlus 8 Pro screen in hand - How to take a screenshot on Android

Credit: David Imel / Android Authority

There are times when you really need to share what’s on your Android device’s screen. That’s when Android screenshots come in handy. Screenshots are captures of whatever is currently showing on your screen saved as an image. In this post we will show you how to take a screenshot on Android devices. We have included multiple methods, and some require little to no effort.

Also: Here is a list of the best Android phones around

The standard way to take an Android screenshot

Capturing a screenshot usually involves simultaneously pressing two buttons on your Android device; normally the volume down and power buttons. On other devices, you might need to use the home + power button combo. When the right button combo is pressed, your device’s screen will flash, usually accompanied by a camera shutter sound. Sometimes, a pop-up message or notification alert appears, suggesting that the screenshot has been made.

Finally, any Android device that comes with Google Assistant will let you take screenshots using voice commands alone. Just say “Okay, Google” and then “take a screenshot”.

These basic methods should be all you need for most Android devices. However, there might be some exceptions. Android device manufacturers often include extra and unique ways of taking Android screenshots. For instance, you can take a screenshot on the Galaxy Note series using the S Pen. Other manufacturers have opted to entirely replace the default method and to use their own instead.

As mentioned, there are some manufacturers and devices that have decided to go rogue and introduce their own methods of taking screenshots on Android. In some cases, these are alternatives that can be used in addition to the main three methods discussed above. In other cases, they replace the default Android options entirely. You’ll find most examples below.

If you own a more recent Samsung Galaxy flagship phone, such as the Galaxy S20 or Galaxy Note 10, you have the Bixby digital assistant pre-installed. It can be used to take a screenshot just with your voice command. All you have to do is go to the screen where you want to take the screenshot and, if you have it configured correctly, simply say “Hey Bixby”. When the assistant starts working, just say “take a screenshot”, and it will do so. You can see the saved shot in your phone’s Gallery app.

If you don’t have your Samsung phone configured to recognize the “Hey Bixby” command, just press and hold on the dedicated Bixby button on the side of the phone, and then say, “take a screenshot” to finish the process.

S Pen

You can use the S Pen to take a screenshot, given that your device comes with one. Just pull out the S Pen and launch Air Command (if it’s not done automatically), then select Screen write. Usually, after the screenshot is captured, the image will be immediately opened for editing. Just remember to save the edited screenshot afterwards.

Palm swipe

On some Samsung phones, there is yet another way to take a screenshot. Go to Settings, and then tap on Advanced Features. Scroll down to see a Palm Swipe To Capture option and toggle it on. To take a screenshot simply place your hand vertically on either the right or left edge of the smartphone screen, and then swipe on the display. The screen should flash and you will see a notification stating that a screenshot has been taken.

Here: How to take a screenshot with the Samsung Galaxy S20

Smart Capture

When Samsung decided how to take screenshots on Android, it really went all out! Smart capture allows you to grab an entire web page, rather than just what’s on your screen. Take a regular screenshot using any of the aforementioned techniques, and then select Scroll capture and continue tapping on it to scroll down the page. This effectively stitches together multiple images.

Smart Select

Smart Select allows you to capture only specific parts of what’s on your screen, to take oval-shaped screengrabs, or even to create short GIFs from movies and animations!

Access Smart Select by sliding out the Edge Panel, and then choosing the Smart Select option. Pick the shape and select the area you want to capture. You may first need to enable this feature in the settings by going to Settings > Display > Edge Screen > Edge Panels.

How to take screenshots on Android: Xiaomi devices

Xiaomi devices give you all the usual options when it comes to taking screenshots, while also throwing in a few methods of their own.

The notification shade

Like a few other Android skins, MIUI provides quick access to screenshots from the notification shade. Just pull down from the top of the screen and find the screenshot option.

Next: These are the best Xiaomi phones you can buy

Three finger swipe

From any screen, simply swipe three fingers down the screen on a Xiaomi device and it will grab a shot of the screen. You can also jump into the settings and assign a range of different shortcuts, if you prefer. These include long pressing the home button, or using other gestures.

How to take screenshots on Android: Huawei devices

Huawei devices provide all the same default options as most Android devices, but also let you take screenshots with your knuckles! Turn on the option in the settings by going to Motion Control > Smart Screenshot and then toggling the option on. Then simply knock on the screen twice with your knuckles to grab the screen. You can also then crop the shot as you like.

On Sony devices, you can find a screenshot option on the power menu. Just long press the power button, wait for the menu to appear, and select Take screenshot to capture a screenshot of the current screen. This can be a useful method, especially when pressing combos of physical buttons is difficult.

Here: These are the best Sony phones

How to take screenshots on Android: HTC devices

Again, HTC will let you take screenshots using all the normal methods. However, if your device supports Edge Sense, then you’ll also be able to use that. Just head into the settings to change what short or long squeezing the device does by going to Settings > Edge Sense > Set short squeeze or Set squeeze & hold action.

While you can use the default methods to take screenshots on LG devices, there are also a few other options.

Next: How to take a screenshot on the LG G8

Quick Memo

You can also take a screenshot with Quick Memo, which can instantly capture and let you create doodles on your screenshots. Just toggle Quick Memo from the notification shade. Once enabled, the editing page will then appear. You can now write notes and doodles on the current screen. Tap the floppy disk icon to save your work.

Air Motion

Another option is to use Air Motion. This works with the LG G8 ThinQ and involves using the built-in ToF (time-of-flight) camera to recognize air gestures. Just wave your hand over the device until you see the icon showing that it has recognized the gesture. Then pinch the air by bringing your fingertips together, and then pulling them apart again.

Capture+

Not enough options for you? Another way to take screenshots on the LG G8 is to pull down the notification bar and then tap the Capture+ icon. This will let you grab regular screenshots, as well as extended screenshots. You’ll then be able to annotate the screenshots as well.

Third party options

Not content with how to take screenshots on Android the standard way? Then you can always try installing additional apps that will provide you with more options and functionality. Some good examples include Screenshot Easy, and Super Screenshot. These apps don’t require root and will let you do things like recording your screen and setting a range of different triggers. You could even set up your own screenshot methods using Tasker!

The Quran makes it clear that we should not eat them. Science has proved that pork is very unhealthy. This clear. We should not eat them because it's not good for us. But WHY do many Muslims have these weird cultural ideas that pigs are 1) Devil animals 2) Should be killed if seen (that's not actually halal) 3) that cartoons such as Peppa pig should be banned. It's so ridiculous. We're just not supposed to eat them. End of. Can someone explain to me where these absurd ideas about pigs come from?

131. How to Erase 2500 Sins in 5 minutes!

Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr (Ra) who said: “The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: ‘There are two qualities, no Muslim man acquires them but he will enter Paradise, and they are simple and easy. He should glorify Allah (say Subhaan Allah) ten times immediately after each prayer, and praise Him (say Al-hamdu Lillaah) ten times and magnify Him (say Allaahu Akbar) ten times.’

I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) counting this on his fingers. He said: ‘That makes one hundred and fifty on the tongue and one thousand five hundred (hasanaat) in the scales.

[Translator’s note: each of three phrases repeated ten times makes thirty; multiplied by the number of daily prayers, which is five, makes one hundred and fifty. Each of these good deeds of the tongue will be rewarded with ten Hasanaat which will be added to the total of good deeds to be weighed in the balance or scales on the Day of Judgement].

Salam alaikum brothers and sisters,

I have been struggling with mental health issues for a very long time and through my suffering I began having empathy and understanding for people suffering mental health issues. There were points in my life where it didn’t matter whether I died or not, and even contemplated suicide. Mental health issues are illnesses just like any other illness, and depression is an issue that effects many of us. Just like physical illness, mental illness can be fatal. Why is it haram to commit suicide if it is an illness of the mind? I have been through these patterns of thinking and through therapy and medication, I look back and see how I’ll I really was. If I did commit suicide, would I be punished for it? Would I be punished for being ill?

P.s. I know post may be triggering but this has been weighing heavily on my mind

-With kindness and love

We know that Quran was revealed in 7 Ahruf and scholars disagreed about what ahruf are but the most accurate definition is its the different dialects of arabs. I recently watched Farid respond’s video about Qira’at and Ahruf and he said that the Qira’at are compilations of ahruf so for example ahruf 1,2,3 gives out a qira’a. So what i understood from this is that the prophet PBUH recited in the 7 ahruf and then reciters like Hafs compiled parts of each harf and recited it in the Hafs qira’a. Is that accurate or did the prophet PBUH recite the Quran in the Qira’at? So for example, for Hafs recitation did the prophet recite the Quran in this Qira’a or did Hafs compiled different ways the prophet PBUH recited the Quran into one Qira’a?

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

In Ramadan of this year, Alhamdulillah, bi idhnillah, I started to come closer to the Deen. Shawwal of this year was the first month I can remember where I offered all of my Salat. However, now I have to deal with the issue of how to offer all my Qada salawat. I am aware of the two opinions on this issue, but it seems to be safer to offer all the deliberately missed prayers.

I know that Salah is enjoined as an obligation from the age of puberty. How can I check when did I reach puberty? What signs should I try to remember? I am a boy.

Also, I offered a few prayers in-between. What should I do about them?

Any help is appreciated. Jazaakumullaahu khayran.

So, my question is, if Masturbation is actually healthy (via link), then why is it haram?

I know it is haram but I'm looking for something else other than "Quran says it's haram therefore it's haram" and "Quran Heals Everything", Even though the latter statement is true.

130. The Virtues of Reciting Tasbih at-I-Fatima

A well-known Tradition of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has it that the Prophet's (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) beloved daughter (and Ali's (Ra) wife), Fatima (Ra), used to perform all the domestic duties with her own hands. She had even to draw water from the well and to carry it home and to grind the corn in the millstone.

One day she begged the Prophet (Sallallahu AlaihiWasallam) to provide her with a domestic servant upon which the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) observed, "I will tell you of something that will serve you better than a domestic servant. Recite Subhaan-Allaah 33 times, Alhamdulillaah 33 times, and AllahuAkbar 34 times after each Salaah and on retiring to bed. This will be of greater value to you than a servant." [MishkatP209 V1 Sahih Muslim]

Another Tradition says, "Whoever will recite after each Salaah 33 times Subhaa-nallaah, 33 times Alhamdulillaah, and 34 times AllahuAkbar, and, at the end of it, the Kalima of ‘Laa ilaaha illal laahu wahdahu laasharika lahu lahul mulku wa-lahul hamdu wa huwa alaa kulli shay-in qadeer’. (There is no Allah but one Allah. He is alone. No partner hath. He Him belongs sovereignty and unto Him belongs Praise and He is all-Powerful) all his sins will be forgiven even if they be as profuse as the foam of the sea."

So as the title suggests, I feel like I've hit a wall in terms of my faith journey.

I have never felt more lost in my 20 years of existing - like for the first time in my life I truly cannot see where I'm heading. Basically my dilemma is this: I'm at a point where one day I'll feel super confident about my Islam but then the next day I'm seriously doubting everything about religion, like is it really just a man made construct used to manipulate the masses, what if there's really nothing that comes after, and most importantly, is all of this just for nothing?

I guess the reason why I'm so troubled by all of this is the fact that I am 20 years old and somewhat independent, and I feel like I need to figure out the truth right now because I don't wanna regret not having fun in my youth if I have some sort of epiphany 20 years down the line, y'know? I feel like post people who question their faith are a little younger so they have time to really go through the motions and figure things out without sacrificing years of their adulthood.

I don't know what to do at this point, I'm just tired of being stuck in this emotional limbo of asking to believe or not to believe. So I guess my question is, what assures you that you're on the right path? And how do you deal with trying to keep your faith in a society that continuously teaches that religion is obsolete?

Brothers and sisters, I have an issue. I've always been the kind of person who feels equally tired regardless of how many hours they sleep, ever since I was a little kid. However recently I have noticed that sleeping 3-5 hours a day in order to fulfill my prayers, makes me very snappy and gives me an attitude I don't want to carry with me. On top of this, I noticed that I have much less energy for concentration tasks, like studying Arabic.

I've tried a few things over the past weeks;

  • sleeping after Ishaa until just before sunrise so that I can pray Fajr (typically 4 hours of sleep)
  • sleeping through Fajr just by an hour or two in order to get more rest (5-6 hours of sleep)
  • even trying to go back to sleep at different times in the day after praying Fajr. This method doesn't work for me as well because I have immense difficulty falling asleep after I have woken up.

None of these have been successful and I always slip up somewhere in the day due to tiredness.

Last night I decided to skip Ishaa and sleep straight after Maghrib, to wake up just before sunrise and pray Fajr as well as catch up on Ishaa. This was 5.5 hours of sleep and it was good rest, but It's 05:59 and I can tell I will struggle to remain awake for the rest of the day.

What is your sleep schedule like, and what would you recommend in this situation? Thank you very much.

Quite some while possibly meaning a few weeks. The method of communication? I guess maybe Reddit PM or Reddit Chat.

I have a ton of questions. Problems. Concerns.

I'm looking for an orthodox brother. I want the solid version of what Islam's beliefs and practices are with no beating around the bush. A brother who is not only stalwart in his faith, but is totally unapolegetic about what Islam teaches, and who feels confident in their knowledge of doctrine and practice to (possibly) bring me back to Islam.

I will argue. But I will listen. I am open minded. But arguing with you is the way for me to figure out if Islam truly is the religion of God or not. I am not the kind of dude who can just watch videos of Islam or hear the message of Islam, say and convert the same day. I want to test Islam and, if it is truly the religion set forth by God, any testing I do will only further cement my belief that it's from God.

Hit me up if interested. Again, I may be corresponding with you for a good while over and over, so just a heads up if you're a busy man and realize you might not have time for paragraphs to writing.

One of my favorite recitations

Asides from the absolutely beautiful rhyming scheme and flow of the surah, these are my favourite verses:

He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" [An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.' " [Verses 8-9]

.

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten." But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. [...] " [Verses 23-25]

This verse really shows the humanity in our predecessors, imagine being Maryam a young woman with no support around from anyone and having to go through child birth all alone. Her fear and pain is reflected in the words she spoke, despite the fact that she just spoke to an angel and witnessed a miracle in herself. SubhanAllah it really reflects her humanity.

That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute. It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is. [Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path." [Verses 34-36]

The phrasing of these verses is just SO powerful. The shift in tone from the story of Maryam to the declaration of Allah of his power and might.. gosh I don't even have words to describe the feeling it insights in me.

And man says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?" Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing? [Verses 66-67]

The repetition of the word insaan in these two verses, again such a powerful effect.

There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting. And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone. [Verses 93-95]

Just felt like sharing!
