Imam An-Nawawi commented:
That is, the husband should not despise his wife, for if he finds in her one characteristic that he dislikes, he will find another that is pleasing to him. She may be hot-tempered and aggressive, but she may also be religiously committed, beautiful, or chaste, or kind to him, and so on. (Sharh Muslim)
