As-salamu alaykum,

Please read fully, I need advice.

I need help understanding why people say Allah won’t accept my prayers because I smoke weed. In my heart, I don’t personally believe that weed is haram, but I will never claim the Quran says it isn't because I am not knowledgeable enough and would never want to mislead anyone.

For a long time, I stopped praying completely because people kept telling me my prayers wouldn't be accepted. I tried my best to avoid other sins, but one day, I committed a very major sin. On my way home, Quran randomly started playing on my phone, and I broke down crying. I was crying out of guilt for the sin I had committed and fear of what Allah would do to me, but also out of heartbreak because I felt like I couldn't even pray to ask Him for forgiveness since I smoke every day. I felt completely stuck. Fast forward a few months, and I finally decided: I don't care what people say anymore—I am going to pray, even if I continue to struggle with smoking.

I have always tried my best to live a good life. I am respectful to everyone, especially my elders. My parents mean everything to me—I love and respect them deeply from my heart, not just because it is an obligation in Islam, but because I genuinely adore them and try never to burden them. I try to be kind, smile at others, and follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Today, I even took off my gold jewelry for the first time (I’m male), which was really hard for me because those pieces were sentimental gifts from my mother. (Previously, I would only take them off while praying.) Every day in my prayers, I ask Allah to remove my desire for things that might be haram.
Smoking weed has become a routine for me because it helps me manage my anxiety, control my anger issues, and generally enjoy life. It also helps me fall asleep at night, which is something I really struggle with. I smoke in the morning, sometimes between prayers, and at night. However, I make sure never to smoke right before I pray because I want to be fully focused during my prayer. I could easily obtain a medical card for my condition, but doing so would restrict certain civil rights, such as the right to bear arms in some states, which makes that option complicated for me.

My questions are:

Is Allah truly not rewarding me, accepting my supplications (dua), or accepting my prayers just because I smoke weed—even though it helps me with my mental health?

Do I really have to pick between praying and smoking, or am I doing the right thing by continuing to pray anyway?

What should I do when I feel so conflicted?

I’m experiencing a pain that is impossible to put into words. I lost my father. We fought cancer for a year. My only wish is that, after everything he endured, he has finally found peace.

I just want to hug him tightly and tell him, “Dad, we went through those terrible days, but we’re happy now.”

This world has turned into hell for me right now. I just want to be with my father again as soon as possible.

Will I see him in Heaven? Will I remember him the way I do today? Will I be able to hug him again and tell him that I love him?

I just want to know that he is somewhere peaceful, free from all the pain he suffered.

Surah Rahman: Verse Reminding us of Death

https://preview.redd.it/dpzuumoznwsh1.png?width=3783&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3a94cf6f576d9d1e37a49ae1696bcc0c570615a

A very important reminder for us all that death is real and we need to be conscious of it. I myself tend to "forget" or not really ponder/reflect on death, but it's crucial that we all do.

I didn’t manage to secure a scholarship to study medicine in any university although my final grade is considered very high, infact I was ranked 11th in the whole country ( the one I completed my studies in , not my home country ) but I applied to med school here in my home country and to my disbelief I didn’t get a scholarship to study in any of them. I did get accepted but into the non-scholarship program which costs a lot but I managed to secure a scholarship not from the Uni itself but from an organization.

Another problem is that the Uni I got accepted into takes 5 hours of commuting in total which I think is a lot, and I have to maintain a 3.0+ gpa to stay on scholarship ( the one provided by the organization) and I can’t afford a dorm .

I wanted to mention that even after the scholarship it’s still considered very expensive and I know my parents aren’t this financially well-off.

I REALLY want to study medicine but it just doesn’t feel right and it feels as if Allah -swt- really wanted me to study medicine I would’ve just gotten a scholarship because he knows how much I’ve worked and my parents’s financial situation. Also because I didn’t get into the uni I wanted, also the commuting thing is just unbelievable.

I managed to secure a full scholarship to study electrical engineering in the uni I wanted but I don’t really like engineering or anything other than medicine

I prayed istgarah and made dua that god will give me a clear sign, but I have to make up my mind by tomorrow morning, how do will I know which is the right choice (and yes I talked about it w my mum my dad I asked multiple ppl about it and they all had different opinions, I myself don’t know if I should just give it up because it sounds impossible, but at the same time idk if I’ll regret not giving it a try)

I grew up in a racist family. I grew up only hearing about how Muslims are terrorists and oppress women. My sister has converted, my nephew is Muslim, my now ex is Muslim and my ingrained racism caused the relationship to fall apart. I hate that. I want to change. I want to be a better person. How do I eliminate this anxiety I have? Whenever I make progress my family or shit I see online appears to derail me. But I want to, would appreciate some advice. I’m sorry

A very random question but I came across this dua recently on insta posted by a fairly reputable scholar (I am not sure who he is but I have seen his videos often) who usually gives duas for certain situations. There was one he mentioned that would allow you to see visions of future in your sleep and I’ve said this dua before sleeping twice and both times I probably had the worst sleep of my entire life. Genuinely just could not sleep. Again I’m not sure entirely of the reference backing that dua but can anyone guide me on if such things are legit or not and does my “bad” sleep mean anything or am I drawing wrong conclusions/overthinking?

I’ve grown up as a Protestant Christian who dang near worshiped Israel. And I always wondered how in the Book of Revelation the world would turn against Israel.

Now.

I get it.

I’ve completely turned against Israel and want to see absolute justice for its literal genocide in Gaza, I want its Greater Israel project ceased, and I want American dollars to stop funding its operations.

I get it now how the “million man army” comes to Israel, and I would cheer it on.

Isn’t that around the same time the Mahdi appears?

Flower of Maryam tea helpful for labour?

Asalaamualaikum, I am currently pregnant and its my first time alhamdulilah. My mother's friend gave her a dried flower for me to drink in tea as it would help with labour and delivery. I believe it's called flower of Maryam. I have had difficulty finding much scientific research on the benefits of this flower and I can't find any mention in the Quran or any hadiths.

I would appreciate if anyone had any information about this. I feel uncomfortable to consume anything I can't find much information on.

I have attached a picture of what the dried flower looks like.

Jazakallah

As-salamu alaykum - I'm a female who has recently reverted. Been married over a decade to the love of my life, who very much supported me becoming a Muslim and is a Christian.

Prior to my conversion, I was an atheist, so my husband was very glad to see that I finally developed a relationship with God.

He has always struggled with the idea of the trinity in Christianity. My husband has never said one negative thing about Islam, and I feel I may be able to convince him that Islam is the truth. I'm looking for a book recommendation that I can give him as a present, that isn't the Qur'an, but will still make him see Islam as the truth.

Any recommendations?

Jazakallahu khairan

Every time I get closer to Islam, i don’t know if I’m being tested but my life gets 10x worse and does not make me want to continue. This testing idea makes no sense to me.

Allah knows best so why is he testing me knowing I will believe less in him? I’m really to the point that I may no longer believe in God. It’s not even in a way that I’m trying to go against God or anything it’s more that my life is in such a bad position right now that I don’t see the point of believing in a God like why is it that all these people that are not believers are so successful with beautiful families while me a young guy that tries his best, does good deeds end up in a sh**y position in life. Why do kids grow up in extreme toxic lifestyles and others in rich loving lifestyles. I get the whole idea of jannah and everything and that this life is a test and temporary but..

I hate living my life right now, I hate thinking of God.. it stresses me because I got more important things to worry about. I prayed for help, I prayed for so much but nothing was answered not one thing. I don’t feel the presence of God and I am really thinking he might not be real and it’s just a coping mechanism for people that can’t accept deat and nothingness.

I have one question that will never let me live in peace If everything happens by Allah's will then why are we told to keep making dua? I think we need so much focus energy and hope for Dua And I did that Day and night, in every namaz, in every azan, in the rain, at midnight I had only one dua:

Ya Allah, give my father a long life i heard that charity increases life so I always gave charity for my father Because he was the only one I had in this world πŸ’” My mother brothers were there, but they were cruel abusive always gave importance to others upon me i don't have any relative cousin friend nothing only my father my mother try to get Me Marry with anyone against my will Only my father saved me i Always believed that Allah never leaves anyone alone and Allah will never humiliate me But when you make the same dua since childhood and it never gets accepted, how do you make your heart believe that God is there?

My only dua for years was Nothing should happen to my father Just give him a little more time am not asking for 100 years, just let him see my wedding i can't explain

My father did everything for me He never abandoned me. When I decided to go to a shelter 4 years ago due to My toxic family father left his own home own area and came with us He said,My daughters will not be left alone while I am alive He found a house, paid 23,000 rent, and worked day and night at this age just for us.

And what did he get for all his goodness? That his daughter is left completely alone in this world of millions? When I got the call that my father had collapsed, I immediately started reciting Durood-e-Ibrahimi with tears, holding my heart. I was sure Allah is not so unjust. But only bad news came. My heart is shattered.

Now what dua should I make?

Ya Allah, if you had to take my father, you should have at least given me a good person so I would not be left to wander At least my father would have seen me safe and would have left peacefully

Now I have no one i was saved by my father from my cruel family, and now I am back to the same cruel family again they are abusing me bashing me and again wants to take control of my Life again and i don't have anyone any place where should I go? Far from the city, to whom should I go? My sister who was with me and with father since 4 years she also betrayed me Now she had a boyfriend she didn't tell me about she is going with him in few days What did I get from praying? Now I don't even have a shelter not a guardian protector Why?

My mother used to abuse me a lot Even today she said so many things to me that your younger sister got married you are just sitting on your father's head and eating him now who will keep you? There is no place for me Why didn't I get a good person what was my fault that am seeing This day? My sister also has no sympathy for me This is the same boyfriend who 8 years ago didn't marry her and ran away, now she is marrying the same guy How can I live here with them, what should I do? Why Allah did nothing for Me?

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Please make du'a for me and my husband. We are going through a very difficult time, with debts and serious financial and documentation problems.

Please make du'a that Allah eases our situation, helps us with the documents for our residence permit, and sends kind people to help us.

Please also make du'a that Allah grants my husband a halal, stable and secure job where he is treated fairly and receives his rights.

If you remember us, please include us in your du'a, especially during sujood. 🀲

May Allah reward you and ease all your hardships. Ameen.

Hello, brothers and sisters. Well, I wanted to ask if any of you know of an app that teaches different duas. Also, could you recommend a YouTube channel run by someone who knows a lot about Islam—like an imam—so I can learn a little more about duas and improve my prayers... I’ve been a Muslim for a long time, but I make several mistakes that I’d like to correct

Assalamu aleikum brothers and sisters, firstly I want to apologize for my lack of knowledge. If you look at my previous post, you can see that I am not a very good muslim. But alhamdulillah I am trying to do better and learn more.

So I wanted to ask, if the Quran or our prophet Mohammad peace and blessings be upon him ever mentioned what happens to a person when he is physically alone. I am asking this because I feel like my mind just goes all over the place when I am alone and sometimes these random doubts pop up in my head (maybe its waswasa?) and get this existential anxiety. But when I am with other people or in a social setting I usually dont have this problem, but maybe that is because I am distracted.

Having a really rough time being pregnant.

I completely understand what a massive blessing it is by Allah swt. It was planned. I feel lucky.

It makes me feel really really horrible though. Mentally. Physically. Emotionally. In every single way I feel horrendous. My other pregnancies were the same, I was hoping this would be easier as I now have young children to also look after.

Allah doesn’t burden our souls with more than it can bear. I know that and believe it wholeheartedly.

But why am I having such a hard time being grateful :( I’m hating this phase so much and it feels so unfair. I feel bad for feeling this way, it’s really upsetting.

I also can’t find much online about support during pregnancy from an Islamic lens. I feel this kind of hardship is the time for those solid reminders (that help you get through bereavement, etc) becuase it’s faith that really pulls you through these hard moments.

If anyone can share anything helpful or in support, I’d be really grateful.
