It's a genuine question I'm a Muslim and I know my religion I read and understand the Quran, I know life is just a test and this is not our lives. (So please if you gonna say some generic stuff, save it)

I need an answer can we trust God, can we put our lives in his hand and just go to sleep.

TBH I don't care if I live my life in agony all I want is to see my family safe and happy.

I can't do that if I don't trust God.

So basically I'm questioning whether I'll be able to fast during Ramadan.

I am a relatively recent convert to Islam (converted in mid-October 2019). I'm in my early teens and doing my best to pray and understand Islam and the Qur'an (just got an English translation of part of the Qur'an today!) but I still remain very nervous about Ramadan.

My family is semi-religious (Christian) but they're not very accepting of other religions. I love Islam but I'm nearly positive that I could be kicked out of the house I live in if I tell my parents of my conversion. I really want to fast during Ramadan but there will be a lot going on and I don't know if I will be able to.

  1. I'll be on a school trip during Ramadan, and we're basically required to eat. Plus it's a little bit suspicious if a girl in her early teens isn't eating during mealtimes for four days
  2. My parents basically have me eat whether I like it or not and they refuse to take no for an answer about food.
  3. I'm really scared that if I don't fast because of circumstances that may arise, I will not be forgiven by Allah (SWT) since fasting during Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam, and not fasting is a major sin.

I know I've posted about this before but this whole idea is really daunting for me. I'd really appreciate any advice or input!

Below we'll see that one of the subsidiary aims of Hijab is to be a symbol of free women as outlined by the classical Fuqaha, a sign of respect for the girls. Until the secular and pseudo-progressive Muslims began to degrade its status and pressured the girls to abandon it and tried to bring them down to their levels.

Abu Qulabah said: Indeed Umar Ibn Khattab (r) did not allow a slave girl to be veiled in his Khilafa, and he said: "Verily the veil is for the free women"

(قال أبو قلابة : إن عمر بن الخطاب كان لا يدع أمة تقنع في خلافته , وقال : إنما القناع للحرائر)

And in another narration: "Expose your head and do not resemble the free women"

(وقال : اكشفي رأسك , ولا تشبهي بالحرائر)

Ibn Qudamah comments on this that it was unanimous (ijma): "And this shows that it was well known to the companions without any opposition"

(وهذا يدل على أن هذا كان مشهورا بين الصحابة لا ينكر)

Ibn Taymiyyah further clarifies: "The Hijab is meant for the free women as opposed to the slave girls, as was the way for the Believers during the time of the Prophet (saw) and his rule".

(والحجابُ مختصٌّ بالحرائر دون الإماء، كما كانت سُنّةُ المؤمنين في زمن النبي وخلفائه)

Al Qurtubi says in his Tafsir:"i.e for the free, so that they don't blend with the slave girls, and if they knew (this) it would not be met with the slightest opposition realizing the great status of the free Believers"

Even spiritually: A believer is not shackled in the prison of his/her desires and her hijab symbolizes this too. While the nonmuslims are imprisoned in their kufr and desires and they also indirectly symbolize this as they are vehemently opposed to the Hijab (with islamophobes going as far as to beat up girls wearing the hijab).

Girls, never be ashamed of the Hijab, Allah blessed you with great honor through this

لماذا يرتد بعض العرب عن الإسلام؟ Why Some Arabs are leaving Islam (Click CC for English translation) submitted by /u/LIGHTNlNG

from Islam https://www.reddit.com/r/islam/comments/ex1428/لماذا_يرتد_بعض_العرب_عن_الإسلام_why_some_arabs/

Hello.

I will do my best to make this brief. Essentially, I was born into a Muslim family and followed the faith blindly in my youth. Beginning in my teenage years, my doubts in religion increased to the point now where I consider myself agnostic at the age of 21. When it comes to spiritual matters, I find myself drawn to Buddhist beliefs more than anything. But that being said, I live in constant dread and depression, due mainly to the cruelty I see so much of in this world, a fear of death (and potential punishment in an afterlife according to Islam), existential terror, fear of losing loved ones, etc etc.

I wish I was religious because I think believing in a religion like Islam would help a lot with my mental state. But my understanding is that faith and belief is integral to being a Muslim. Even if I perform the prayers, and abstain from whats haram, if I don't actually believe then I'm not a Muslim right?

How am I supposed to force myself to believe in things that I don't have any belief in? I am open to being religious, but I just can't believe in so many of its claims. None of them have any actual evidence behind them. I don't think its likely that judgement day will come. I have never seen an angel nor have I seen anything that suggests they exist at all. I also don't believe the Quran is the legitimate word of God, I don't even know if God exists in the first place. I spend a lot of time reading about the Quran and the Prophet, but nothing comes close to convincing me of the truth of their claims.

My understanding is that Qadr means that God knew everything I would think and do before I ever did it. Does this mean that he intends me to live as a disbeliever and to die as one? Am I fated to enter hell? I heard that even with Qadr, I am still a person with free-will and so I have the choice to live as Muslim or as a sinner, but it really doesn't feel like I have any choice at all. What I believe is not a decision I make, it is just what my mind thinks given the sum of my experiences and knowledge. I could perhaps convince myself of a belief in God, as in a deity, but the specifics of Islam I just don't believe in right now.

So what exactly is someone like me supposed to do? Am I just condemned to hell?

That is one last thing. The punishments in Islam sound wildly cruel. It seems like most people on this planet are going to hell for eternity. How can God be considered all-merciful if he is going to send so many billions of his creations to hell for following the faith of their ancestors? Or for living with doubts in a world so filled with cruelty, uncertainty, and suffering?

It doesn't even matter if they were good people. I know a lot of people who are not Muslim and they are good people in their hearts. But simply because they aren't Muslim, they will be condemned to eternity in hellfire? Does that sound like a merciful God to you?

how do you get off something of your head?

a few days ago, i sat for an examination for a job position. after failing a lot of first-stage exams, this was my first second-stage exam. overwhelmed, i tried to do my best even though i said “i couldve done better” to myself after i was done with the exam.

so now, i was promised that the result would be out by next thursday or friday. i cant stop thinking about it. i try to make dua as many as i can for it.

I am stucked between “if you want it, you should pray hard for it” and “youve done your best, just leave it to Allah”. honestly, i am afraid id fail the exam though.

please pray for me, i hope to receive good news next week.

With people like Daud, and Sonnie bill William, sometimes I envy that I had same courage and patience as them. It also feels to me that reverts inspire more than born muslims but that is my subjectivity.

I think the intellectually honest will find islam reasonable.

What do you think you learn from such lot?

I have been seeing these kinds of sentiments all online in Muslim social media, and frankly it is pathetic and petty. Posting videos and pictures of shock food that a fringe group of people eat and projecting that upon more than a billion people is hypocritical, considering that we Muslims have to constantly defend ourselves when a video of some idiot with a beard waves an AK in the air makes the round onnthis site. Do not be hypocrites.

Salam wa Alikum everyone,

One of the most discussed and controversial topics in our religion is wife beating. I read this verses translation and am confused on what it means.

Here is the verse in English:

Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.

Jazak-Allah for your inputs. Jummah Mubarak!

Hello, I’m looking for more information on Islam. I was mailed a Qur’an and while I plan on reading it, I’m not quite sure how to approach such a sacred text? I am from America and was raised Christian so I don’t really have any idea what to expect. Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of learning about the faith? I apologize in advance if I’ve said anything wrong/offensive, please correct me in the comments if so. Many thanks.

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

There are three myths about mental health illness that can be dispelled by a single verse in the Qur'an:

وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

And his eyes turned white out of the grief he suppressed

Myth #1: A good Muslim doesn't suffer from depression, anxiety or other mental health illnesses

Yet, this verse clearly shows us that Prophet Ya'qub (upon him be peace) suffered a significant amount of grief over the loss of his son Yusuf (upon him be peace). Can anyone say that Ya'qub was not a devout believer?

Myth #2: Mental health illnesses aren't a big deal. Just get over it.

In this verse, Allah shows us how emotional pain can be so intense and commandeering that it can even manifest itself physically. Prophet Ya'qub suffers what is today called somatization. His sadness is literally so intense that it causes his eyesight to be lost. No one would say losing your eyesight isn't a big deal. Likewise, so much of our physical health is dictated by our emotional disposition (ulcers, heart disease, blood pressure, etc).

Myth #3: Therapy or talking about your problems can't help.

The end of the verse "فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ" (i.e. "so he was of those who suppress") Allah explains in part why Prophet Ya'qub's pain was so intense.

Prophet Ya'qub had to swallow and suppress his pain. He had no one to speak to, since he had strong suspicions that his sons had something to do with Yusuf's disappearance. He had no one to speak to, or complain to, other than Allah. So he kept his grief suppressed from his family, which only made his pain worse.

Inversely we can understand from this verse that by speaking to others, we can relieve ourselves of some of the pain we carry. So many of the Prophetic Hadith encourages righteous companionship and friendship, no doubt in part because having a good companion that you can speak to can strengthen you mentally and spiritually.

Ibrahim Hindy

The verse here by the way is Q 12:84.

Why do you guys think their approach to understanding scripture & religion in general is wrong? Aren't we supposed to reach religion using reason? If so, why not rely on reason for guidance when understanding scripture?

People usually reply by saying that minds are fallible & one could easily be led astray using one's mind. But I really don't find that convincing. If we were going to doubt our intellect (which is reasonable, I'm not disagreeing) why not doubt everything? And that everything will include religion. So aren't we supposed to ditch religion, by that reasoning? Since we reached religion by our intellect, which we are putting to doubt now. I really don't find that convincing. One could argue that we do not reach religion because of reason & rationality, but then aren't we now just ruled by mere chance where you're following x religion because you were born into that x religion ? Why use reason to reach religion, but ditch reason when interpreting religion? Aren't we using our intellect even when assessing it & declaring it fallible? Isn't that circular reasoning? we're using the assumption that our intellect could reach valid conclusions to reach the conclusion that our intellect can't reach valid conclusions!

What do you think?

Netflix icon on the homescreen of the HTC 10.

Netflix in February 2020 will once again include a bunch of new and exclusive TV shows and movies. This includes the long-awaited TV series adaptation of the comic book horror-fantasy series Locke and Key. Also, February brings us the sequel to the hit teen rom-com movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and the second season to the sci-fi series Altered Carbon.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of what’s being added to Netflix in February 2020, plus a list of what’s leaving the service this month.

Locke and Key (First season – Feb. 7)

It’s been a long time coming for fans of this IDW comic book series, but now the first season of the Locke and Key adaptation is finally coming to Netflix. The original comics were written by novelist Joe Hill (son of Stephen King). The series takes place in a mysterious house that happens to be a historical estate of a single mother and her three children. They move in the house after the death of their father. However, they soon discover this is no ordinary structure. It contains a series of supernatural keys that can open doors to other dimensions and give people special powers.

To All the Boys 2: P.S. I Still Love You (Original movie – Feb. 12)

This is the long-awaited sequel to one of the most popular Netflix original movies of all time. The original 2018 film adapted the young adult romance novel, about a young girl named Lara Jean. She wrote secret letters to all of the boys she has fallen for in the past, only for those letters to become public. The sequel, again based on the second book in the series, has Lara Jean finally enjoying life with her boyfriend Peter. Complications set in when yet another former love of hers shows up.

Altered Carbon (Season 2 – Feb. 27)

We have yet another show on Netflix that’s taken a while to get its second season. The first season of this sci-fi series debuted in 2018, and introduced us to a far-future world where the rich could upload their consciousness into other human bodies called “Sleeves.” This season, Anthony Mackie plays the latest “sleeve” of Takeshi Kovacs (played by Joel Kinnaman and Will Yun Lee in season 1).  While plot details are still under wraps, we would suspect Kovacs to once again be solving some kind of murder or murders in this future.

First, I realize this may be a polarizing topic so I understand if the mods take this down and second I should also say that I am not a Muslim and I don’t really feel the pull towards Islam either. But I am personally interested in religions around the world and I was just curious what you all thought about these issues which I only just learned about recently.

Narrated By Masruq:

'Aisha said that a Jewess came to her and mentioned the punishment in the grave, saying to her, "May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave." 'Aisha then asked Allah's Apostle about the punishment of the grave. He said, "Yes, (there is) punishment in the grave." 'Aisha added, "After that I never saw Allah's Apostle but seeking refuge with Allah from the punishment in the grave in every prayer he prayed."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #454 & also Vol: 2 Book 23 Chapter 86 Hadith: 1372]

Fadalah bin 'Ubaid (RA) reported that:

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The actions of every dead person come to a halt with his death except the one who is on the frontier in Allah's way (i.e., observing Ribat). This latter's deeds will be made to go on increasing for him till the Day of Resurrection, and he will be secure from the trials in the grave."

[Sunan Tirmidhi (4/165) No. 1621 and Sunan Abu Dawud (3/9) No. 2500]

Narrated By Ibn Abbas:

The Prophet once passed by two graves, and those two persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He said, "They are being tortured not for a great thing (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other was going about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends). He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree split it into two pieces and fixed one on each grave. The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have you done so?" He replied, "I hope that their punishment may be lessened till they (the leaf) become dry."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #443]

Abu Sa'eed narrated:

"The Messenger of Allah (SAW) entered his Musalla and saw the people who looked as if they were smiling. So he said: 'Indeed, if you were to increase in remembrance of the severer of pleasures, then you would find yourselves too busy for what I see. So increase in remembrance of death, the severer of pleasures for indeed there is no day that comes upon the grave except that it speaks, saying: "I am thee house of the estranged, I am the house of the solitude, I am the house of dust, and I am the house of the worm-eaten." When the believing worshipper is buried, the grave says to him: "Welcome, make yourself comfortable. Indeed, to me, you are the most beloved of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today, you shall see what I have arranged for you." It will then widen for him so that his sight extends, and the door to Paradise is opened for him. And when the wicked worshiper or the disbeliever is buried, the grave says to him: "You are not welcome, do not get comfortable. Indeed, to me, you are the most hated of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today, you shall see what I have arranged for you.'" He said: 'It will begin closing in on him (squeezing him) until his ribs are crushing each other.'" He said: " The Messenger of Allah (SAW) clasped some of his fingers between others and said: 'Seventy giant serpents will constrict him, if even one of them were to hiss on the earth, nothing upon it would grow as long as it remained. They will chew on him and bite him until he is brought to the Reckoning.'" He said: " The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'The grave is but a garden from the gardens of Paradise, or a pit from the pits of the Fire.'"

It said some harsh but real stuffs about our so called modern civilised society.

"We've stopped teenage marriage. People hardly marry around 15-19 but we cant stop abortion at the same age".

People have sex from early teens to old age but when it comes to marry, youre not old enough, mature enough, rich enough, live together to see how you sync. After all this prerequisite, you still change gf after gf, you go through multiple divorce, some are even afraid to get marry. When marriage should be an easy thing in islam.

"Dealing with the harsh customers shows your professionalism at job but putting up with angry-depressed husband is you're not getting valued enough/you deserve better etc".

People go through so much pain and suffering in their job. It puts so much pressure and stress on them. They are working so much hours in a week to get the job done. Still they do it for the sake of their career, their life goals, money etc. But when it comes to marriage as soon as the honeymoon phase is over, people are done? How much we try to save our marriage? How much work we put for our spouse who is angry, depressed, sick lately?

Anyways may Allah give us happy and peaceful marriage.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette shadow name

My Experience with Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette:

Let’s begin the review with the packaging of the product. The eyeshadow comes in a standard size 10-pan eyeshadow palette. The palette is rectangular in shape and of decent size. I love how neat the white colored palette looks. It has detailing on with silver. The palette bears the brand’s tagline on top. The shade name is mentioned on the side of the palette in yellow fonts, which is similar to the color scheme of the palette. The palette has a decent-sized mirror which is of good quality. There is no applicator provided. The palette closes well with a soft magnetic closure. The packaging is sleek and travel friendly.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette is part of the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Vault, which comes with four different palettes in the collection. This particular eyeshadow palette is a typical fall inspired eyeshadow palette with lots of yellow and brown shades.

There was a lot of buzz in the makeup world when this palette was launched. It was said that the quality of the eyeshadows is not exactly the same as shown on the website; some people had a hard time working with these shadows. I am not really sure whether a particular batch had an issue or how it was resolved later on, but the one that I have got has a pretty decent quality. So, without any ado, let’s discuss about each shade individually and see how it actually performs.

  • VIP: It is a pearly white shade with a nice shimmery finish. The texture is like a dream. It is buttery smooth and very easy to blend. It applies effortlessly and has minimal fall out.
  • Access: It is the brightest turmeric yellow shade in the palette, but still it is not that neon kind of a shade. It is more like sunset yellow kind of a shade, a purely matte color. It does not have any sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and color is easy to build. The texture is soft, smooth and non powdery. It applies evenly and blends effortlessly.
  • Gilt Trip: This is another stunning and creamy smooth shimmery shade in the palette. It is a nice frosted gold shade. This is a subtle golden color and not the brightest one out there. This makes it very easily wearable. It applies easily and does not get patchy. There is no fall out as such.

  • Coin: It is a bright gold shade with a high-shine shimmery finish. It is loaded with shimmer and hence it is a really bright sparkly gold color. The color is stark and not for regular makeup looks, but it is certainly very pretty color for a heavy cut-crease eye look. The texture is again buttery smooth and easy to apply. The shimmers aren’t chunky and apply beautifully on the eyes. The pigmentation is also insane.
  • Agent: It is a typical golden yellow kind of shade. This is a perfect color for a fall eye makeup. It is also a matte eye shadow and it is totally devoid of any kind of sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and easy to build. There is slight fall out with this shade but it is not powdery and pressed decently. It blends smoothly and does not look patchy.
  • Top Secret: It is the prettiest olive green shade I own. I don’t own any matte olive green shadow, so I loved this one but I had a little hard time blending in this shade as the color is very saturated and it concentrates at one place as soon as I apply it. This makes it hard to blend but it eventually smoothens with a little extra effort. The pigmentation is good, but there is a little fallout.

  • Smooth Criminal: It is a matte clay brown shade devoid of any sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and buildable. The formula is smooth like other mattes and does not fall out much. It is easy to blend and does not get patchy.
  • Secure: It is a raw sienna kind of shade with a matte finish. There is no sheen in it. The color is quite pigmented and easy to build up. It applies easily and blends effortlessly. There is no patchiness or whatsoever.

  • Prowl: It is a deep brown shade and again with a matte finish. The formula is so saturated and the color pops on the eyes in one go. You need to light handed with this shade, as it is super pigmented. It is smooth and easy to apply. It blends beautifully and never gets patchy.
  • Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette texture

  • Classified: This is the only shade that I dislike in this palette as I had a really hard time in applying and blending this color. The color does not show up easily and it is really difficult to build up the color. It is not as saturated as other colors. It is a very sheer deep bronzy gold kind of shade. It has gold shimmers in it, which don’t look chunky and are finely milled into the formula. The pigmentation is on a sheer side and the texture is also not that great.

There is slight fall out with the mattes. I feel shimmer is so beautifully pressed and their texture is lovely except for one shade called “Classified,” which has a poor formula. I had a hard time with some shades but overall the palette is nice.

Al-'Ilm – ( العلم ) Knowledge: i.e., that Allah knows what had been, what will be, what has never been, and how it could be if it was. He also knows what his creation will do, by virtue of His eternal knowledge, including their choices that will take place.

Im sort of confused. Can someone explain to me whether or not I have free will? Allah knows what I will do and what will happen. He is omniscient. But we are required to worship and do good deeds. So was it predetermined, the people that do bad deeds and go to Hell? Or is this a test, to see what we would do even if we were aware that He knows all? Or is this a concept a mere human could never comprehend?

I am a Jehovah’s Witness. One of my fellow JWs used to visit a Muslim to study the Bible. I’m not an expert on Islam, but I’d say I know a bit. Enough to know that what my friend told me sounded... off. He was telling me about his visits with this Muslim and he told me about the subjects they talked about, I recognized most of them. But then he told me that the Muslim he visited said that God allows sin and evil because it’s necessary? I was wondering if this was an actual belief in Islam, or if it was just something that a fringe group believe. Or maybe it was just that guy. Or maybe another doctrine could be confused for that?

*my apologies, it’s suppose to be qur’an in title

During the rap music, his ears seemed really bothered and he wasn’t closing his eyes all the way. His ears kept moving at the rap sound.

When I put the qur’an, his ears stopped moved and he closed his eyes all the way. He looked so peaceful suddenly

Then I switch back to rap music and he opened his eyes and looked at me angry. It was actually a bit scary, I thought he was going to bite me. So I put the Qur’an again then he want back to sleeping peacefully.

Even animals know who is the creator.
