My Experience with Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette:
Let’s begin the review with the packaging of the product. The eyeshadow comes in a standard size 10-pan eyeshadow palette. The palette is rectangular in shape and of decent size. I love how neat the white colored palette looks. It has detailing on with silver. The palette bears the brand’s tagline on top. The shade name is mentioned on the side of the palette in yellow fonts, which is similar to the color scheme of the palette. The palette has a decent-sized mirror which is of good quality. There is no applicator provided. The palette closes well with a soft magnetic closure. The packaging is sleek and travel friendly.
Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette is part of the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Vault, which comes with four different palettes in the collection. This particular eyeshadow palette is a typical fall inspired eyeshadow palette with lots of yellow and brown shades.
There was a lot of buzz in the makeup world when this palette was launched. It was said that the quality of the eyeshadows is not exactly the same as shown on the website; some people had a hard time working with these shadows. I am not really sure whether a particular batch had an issue or how it was resolved later on, but the one that I have got has a pretty decent quality. So, without any ado, let’s discuss about each shade individually and see how it actually performs.
- VIP: It is a pearly white shade with a nice shimmery finish. The texture is like a dream. It is buttery smooth and very easy to blend. It applies effortlessly and has minimal fall out.
- Access: It is the brightest turmeric yellow shade in the palette, but still it is not that neon kind of a shade. It is more like sunset yellow kind of a shade, a purely matte color. It does not have any sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and color is easy to build. The texture is soft, smooth and non powdery. It applies evenly and blends effortlessly.
- Gilt Trip: This is another stunning and creamy smooth shimmery shade in the palette. It is a nice frosted gold shade. This is a subtle golden color and not the brightest one out there. This makes it very easily wearable. It applies easily and does not get patchy. There is no fall out as such.
- Coin: It is a bright gold shade with a high-shine shimmery finish. It is loaded with shimmer and hence it is a really bright sparkly gold color. The color is stark and not for regular makeup looks, but it is certainly very pretty color for a heavy cut-crease eye look. The texture is again buttery smooth and easy to apply. The shimmers aren’t chunky and apply beautifully on the eyes. The pigmentation is also insane.
- Agent: It is a typical golden yellow kind of shade. This is a perfect color for a fall eye makeup. It is also a matte eye shadow and it is totally devoid of any kind of sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and easy to build. There is slight fall out with this shade but it is not powdery and pressed decently. It blends smoothly and does not look patchy.
- Top Secret: It is the prettiest olive green shade I own. I don’t own any matte olive green shadow, so I loved this one but I had a little hard time blending in this shade as the color is very saturated and it concentrates at one place as soon as I apply it. This makes it hard to blend but it eventually smoothens with a little extra effort. The pigmentation is good, but there is a little fallout.
- Smooth Criminal: It is a matte clay brown shade devoid of any sheen or shimmer. The pigmentation is decent and buildable. The formula is smooth like other mattes and does not fall out much. It is easy to blend and does not get patchy.
- Secure: It is a raw sienna kind of shade with a matte finish. There is no sheen in it. The color is quite pigmented and easy to build up. It applies easily and blends effortlessly. There is no patchiness or whatsoever.
- Prowl: It is a deep brown shade and again with a matte finish. The formula is so saturated and the color pops on the eyes in one go. You need to light handed with this shade, as it is super pigmented. It is smooth and easy to apply. It blends beautifully and never gets patchy.
- Classified: This is the only shade that I dislike in this palette as I had a really hard time in applying and blending this color. The color does not show up easily and it is really difficult to build up the color. It is not as saturated as other colors. It is a very sheer deep bronzy gold kind of shade. It has gold shimmers in it, which don’t look chunky and are finely milled into the formula. The pigmentation is on a sheer side and the texture is also not that great.
There is slight fall out with the mattes. I feel shimmer is so beautifully pressed and their texture is lovely except for one shade called “Classified,” which has a poor formula. I had a hard time with some shades but overall the palette is nice.
