Hello, I'm doing research on perspectives about free will and salvation through history, and I would be very thankful for some guidance about important Islamic opinions on this issue: is Iman a gift from Allah? That is to say, can one only have faith if Allah gives it to them?
If No, where does it come from?
If Yes, then what is one's moral culpability for not being a practicing Muslim (or theist in general) because they were not given faith? Furthermore, no sane and rational person would ever want to go to Jahannam if they truly understood what it was, so why would anyone reject Iman if offered/given it?
