Every morning when I go University, I usually sit down and watch Islamic videos on YouTube, whether it’s a story, a tafseer, or a speech of some sort. I stumbled upon this video, which is a story on Jibreel’s advices about life and other Jibreel related stories, whether it was about the connection he had with the Prophet (pbuh). At the very last few minutes of the video, the narrator or sheikh, mentions on how the Prophet (pbuh) was given two choices from Jibreel, he chose one of which the choices Jibreel gave him and that narrator mentioned that the Prophet (pbuh) soon after, died and Aisha saw his soul leaving his body and screamed, making everyone hear her scream including Fatimah.

Now that’s one part of the situation which I am going to talk about now, which is the death of the Prophet (pbuh).

I spoke to my relative on the phone, we usually talk about Islamic stories and such. I brought up the death of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) in our phone call, that I learned from the video I watched. My cousin then asked me: “From where exactly did you get this story..?”

I was confused at the moment.

I replied: “From videos on YouTube I watch some of the time.”

He then surprises me that the Prophet (pbuh) did not die that way, and it was incorrect. He told me, and others told him, that the Prophet (pbuh) ate food, that was poisoned, and spit half of it out after the food spoke to him directly, warning the prophet (pbuh) that the food is poisoned. Soon after the incident, he became very ill after time passed due to the small amount of poison left in his body, and died in Aisha’s lap.

After a couple of arguments we had, he then mentions that this is the true story of how the Prophet (pbuh) died, some people in videos on YouTube mistakenly say the story in a different way?

Now what I’m trying to say is, why do different Sheikhs, interpret stories differently? I realized after watching a few new videos that some scholars discuss the story in a different way, some lie about stories (apparently..). It surprised me to see that some scholars can actually be mistaken within these stories.

Now, my questions for you guys are these:

• How will I ever know if the scholar is saying the correct story and that the source is authentic?

• What should I keep an eye on next time when watching the videos on these channels? (MercifulServant, ILoveUAllah, TheProphetsPath, etc)

• Lastly, how did the Prophet (pbuh) die? And how can I know if the source is trusted?

Finally, my message to these types of channels is this;

Please do not upload any videos of scholars that could possibly contain misleading information about Islam, it is known to be Haraam to spread incorrect or false information regarding Islam and its history. Some young individuals, probably has no or lacks an Islamic background, could believe these information that could possibly be incorrect.

Check your sources, check the scholars’ history, their background, their authenticity and make sure to take full responsibility on making sure the information that you are about to share with the public is CORRECT.

Thank you all and I hope everyone can share this to spread awareness among our community.

Jazakum Allahu khair for reading.
