Omg. I found the voice of my childhood. Made me teary. Didn’t know he died in 1988. Hearing his voice brings goosebumps.
I never knew his name. I just remember my parents collection of audio tapes of his recitations.
I can’t describe his voice. Truly angelic. Listen to this when you have time to actually listen, read the translation while he recites (English subtitles on video) and absorb the beauty.
Which reciter was the background to your growing up years and who do you listen to most often now?
My favourite reciter (other than Abdul Basit) is Ali Bin Jabir.
I wish there were English language biographies done on Qari’s lives.
