Maybe its a recent thing but so many people are jumping on this bandwagon that if something isn't specifically mentioned in the quran and or its vague then its not obligatory or even worse you don't need to do it. This is a very very slippery slope for you as a Muslim.
The Quran is a perfect book of Allah but it still needed a role model like the prophet (saw) to show the people how to interpret and implement its laws which is the sunnah.
Don't let your desires destroy you
