A random thought: How many generations back were our ancestors living during the time of the Prophets?

I was sitting at work thinking about something I’ve been curious about for a while: how many generations back were our ancestors living during the time of Islamic prophets?

Growing up, when we hear about prophets, it sometimes feels like they lived unimaginably far back in history. But when looking at family generations and historical timelines, the distance can feel surprisingly smaller than expected.

Summary (based on a rough calculation, not a fully verified timeline):

  1. My 20th ancestor would have been alive during the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

  2. My 53rd ancestor would have been alive during the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) عليه السلام.

I have not personally verified every single date or generation estimate, so I’m not claiming this as exact. I just found the overall timeline interesting and thought it was something worth sharing.

The image was AI-generated to visualize the idea. Would be happy to hear others’ thoughts or corrections.
