Is it acceptable for Isha to pray 4 rakat fard + 2 rakat sunnah and nothing else?

I'm just starting to pray so I'm mostly focused on fard salah. I know Isha can be up to 17 rakat (and IDK yet if that is with or without witr).

I know they say it's ok to just do the 4 rakat fard for Isha - even though you'll obviously be missing blessings. I feel I can do more than the 4 fard but am not quite at the level of 17 rakat yet. Is it ok to do 4 fard followed by 2 sunnah for Isha? Or is it all or nothing - meaning if you do the 2 sunnah following isha then you must do everything else also?
