Why should hell be eternal ?

Please can someone explain to me why would Allah make lots of people suffer FOR ETERNITY ?

Nothing positive would come out from eternal suffering The only useful thing my mind finds, would be to remind ppl of paradise to not commit a sin otherwise they would also end up in hell. However if that possibility exists it would mean that ppl could sin in paradise. But if ppl could sin in paradise, it would’t be paradise right ?

So my own argument (hell as a reminder in the afterlife) is wrong.

What could be the purpose of eternal suffering then ?

Also since Allah is all knowing and powerful, he could know other painless way of making ppl submit to him don’t you think ?
