Salam, I sincerely hope this isn't a rude question and I truly wish to educate myself. I have heard that it is common in brown culture to call older women auntie and that it's a term of respect. I'd like to know whether it's appropriate to greet older women as auntie?
For example "Salam Alaikum auntie, it is nice to meet you, inshallah I hope Allah has blessed you with good health?"
I truly just want to learn how to greet my elders in the community respectfully since I'm pretty sure my white person "wha' sup? nice to meet you" that I was raised with doesn't fly but I also don't want to appropriate culture.
