So, I met my boyfriend (who is Muslim) as a Christian. I had been learning about Islam for almost a year before we started dating. Now, I plan on becoming Muslim officially and taking my Shahada soon. However, my boyfriend and I were/still are in a haram relationship. My family is non-muslim, and also against anything related to Islam, so finding a partner a halal way would we impossible unless getting help from a mosque. My boyfriend is from a Muslim country where many haram things are normalized, so when I brought up the idea of marriage, it seemed drastic to him because he has been extremely Westernized. One of the things that has had me dragging my feet is deciding whether or not I can break up with him. I know we want to marry each other one day , and was wondering if it would be permissible to date in a “halal “ manner. For example, we would have chaperones on occasions where we would be alone, and would not have any physical contact. We both feel as if this is a good compromise since we definitely want to be together. Any advice?
