Assalamualaikum.
I am a 15 year old boy living in the U.S. Both my Parents are Pakistani and Muslim, and I am too. My mom is making me do Hifz of the Quran, even after I've expressed that I Can't and would much rather learn the meaning of the Quran. She says it's because so that in the future, even if I forget, I will still be able to read fast and smoothly. I think that I should just take Tajweed Classes, rather than the Hifz one, which I know that I can't remember for long, I don't think. I'm interested in learning the meaning of the Quran and how it's supposed to be read, but with school and stuff currently, I plan on doing it in the future, preferably as an adult. I don't know how to tell her that I want to stop, and just learn pronunciation, making it easier to read, especially when she's completely aware that I'm likely to forget it, which is a sin on its own.
Jazakallah, and thanks for any responses.
