I've been seeing this disturbingly frequently recently, where islamophobes keep making arguments that are obviously islamophobic but they say it's not. The response i found for this is not applicable for all arguments, but most atleast.

It's really simple, you just take the words about islam and replace them with a community they support. So if they made a hateful comment against muslims, take the word where they mention muslims and replace them with say, black people or LGBT. And now their brains (hopefully) realise that the comment they made features hate. After all, if you won't insult a community you support, why insult muslims?

As an example: I got a post from r/exmuslim that suits this response. And although this should be obvious, I still want to add it as a disclaimer that I don't have any problems at all with my black brothers and what's below is just an example.

Sometime i wish muslims weren’t in this sub. I have enough irl, that i need a safe space and them bopping around here acting like entitled brats puppeteered by a religion, its very annoying. I wish i can just pretend they’re not there, but sometimes, when u’re having a bad day its stuff to ignore.

Now, even r/exmuslim moderators refuse that this is islamophobic, literally. But, what if we replace the terms about religion, with racial terms?

Ta da! Now imagine if the same person who wrote that: wrote this! I believe that it'd get reported and everyone on the comments would condemn the OP for being a racist. But when the post is about islam, eh. Who cares.

The hypocriscy of islamophobes...
