Assalaam, Before I was a Muslim, I was an avid Bible collector from since I was born until I did my shahadah a year or so ago. We are finding a LOT of Islamic and Turkish pieces and I found another Quran, which made me happy. I like collecting religious books because you can always learn more. I always read the Bible and Bible inspired books and then look to the Quran to see basically more information and reference. As soon as we get through with the garage, I will start studying the Quran more fervently and I don't know if I'll become a Scholar or a Mufti. Because I know a LOT but still learning.
Back in the day, Priests were surprised at how knowledgeable I was about the Bible and the events of the Bible. I have read the Bible countless times from cover to cover, word for word. I pray to Allah SWT that He makes it easy for me to do the same with the Glorious and Holy Quran. I'm a technical and logical person who seeks out the truth instead of sitting around doing nothing. The reason I converted to Islam was because after 9/11, I decided to learn more about Islam as much as I could instead of following herd mentality and labeling all Muslims as terrorists. The funny thing is, is that Islamophobic people believe that the Quran is like basically how to pilot a plane into buildings. I found that not to be the case at all. They've also written websites with "Quran Verses" like "Thou shall rape women", and I have read the Quran and the way it was written, says no thing at all.
They also say Jihad means "Religious war" which is incorrect. It means "journey" or "path" or "struggle". It's all Islamophobic and wrong. Many upon many people are converting to Islam because they read the Quran either as a challenge, or a way to prove that Islam is "evil" or that they are genuinely curios on the growing religion. Muslims are the nicest people I have ever come across and the Quran, Hadiths and Sunnah are very clear about extremists. So, to make a long story short, I converted to Islam because it is a beautiful religion and filled with happy, intelligent people because the Quran, Hadiths and Sunnah encourage free thinking and seeking knowledge. There was a woman in one of the Narrated Hadiths that only spoke in Quran verses for 40 odd years. In my experience, learning from the Quran, Hadiths and Sunnah, I have little to no time to think "extremely". I spend that time crying out of fear of Allah SWT and learning about the Glorious Religion that is Islam.
Final Note: Islam is a really great religion and deserves respect and it deserves the rank that it has gotten as the fastest growing religion. Islam is very special to me and many other people. I love Allah SWT, I love Prophet Muhammad SAW and I love Islam.
