'Umar Ibn Al-Khattab relates that he heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, say, "Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended. So the one whose hijrah was to Allah and His Messenger, then his hijrah was to Allah and His Messenger. And the one whose hijrah was for the world to gain from it, or a woman to marry her, then his hijrah was to what he made hijrah for." [Agreed upon]

I’m just confused on what this applies too when it comes to the meaning of actions are by intentions.

Like does it mean that as long as your intention is there for doing something spiritual then it counts?

Like say for example someone is new to salah and they make a mistake without knowing it but later on they found out the mistake and corrected it for the upcoming salahs, will those Salahs still count for the individual?

Is this what the hadith is pertaining too?
