Al salam alaikum , I Just want to tell you guys that I am not arrogant If I don't respond to comments. I do, but they keep getting removed and I don't know why. So no offense intended.
1- I want to know which madhab my family follows, I don't know a lot of information about my father's side of the family. My Grandfather was a man who was described to me as evil, weird and a hypocrite man. I hear stories all the time of how he harmed my father's life and how he used to hurt my grandmother's life, so my parents never made us visit him . I was told that my dad never saw him pray and he said that my grandfather used to say that he didn't fast because of heart related diseases. By that way, my father didn't get taught religion by his father. I don't think my dad is sure about what madhab my family follows because a lot of details about my family are unknown like it's history, origin and the name of the meaning. My family name is شعت and I know that my family's origins probably comes from the Levant, either Palestine, Syria or Jordan. So I think that my family either follows either the shafi or the Hanafi madhab. I was told that my mother's family follows the shafi madhab, can a son follow teh madhab of his mother?. How do I know my family's madhab?
2- Once I discover which madhab my family follows, I would like to read more about topics like fiqh or aqeeda of a certain madhab. I think that my family follows either the Hanafi or shafi madhab, what are the best books to read about the jurisprudence of these madhabs?
3-What are the rulings of the 4 madhabs on the topic of music?
