Assalamualaikum to whoever is reading this. I have a question regarding a verse but cannot seem to find an answer to it. In chapter 4, verse 24 it states "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess. It is a decree of Allah for you. Lawful unto you are all beyond those mentioned, so that ye seek them with your wealth in honest wedlock, not debauchery. And those of whom ye seek content (by marrying them), give unto them their portions as a duty. And there is no sin for you in what ye do by mutual agreement after the duty (hath been done). Lo! Allah is ever Knower, Wise."

I understand this part talks about who we can and cannot marry but the part I cannot understand is, it says it is forbidden to marry already married women except for captives. If a Muslim or people of the book slave women was married to another Muslim slave man or free man would her owner still be able to marry her? I know that it is definitely not allowed for a woman to have more than 1 husband.
