So a lot of Muslims will say something like it was normal for the time that Mohammed was alive or something like he was trying to take care of her and act as a father figure and the marriage was not done because Mohammed was sexually attracted to her, but there is one glaring issue with the excuses that Muslims give. You are not talking about some normal man according to Islam. You are talking about the supposed prophet of God himself, the same God that is all knowing, all wise, all good and all powerful.
So if God chose Mohammed and trusted him in spreading God's word with the Quran then surely God would not allow Mohammed to marry a young child because God would know that a child's brain is not developed enough to consent to a marriage and God would also know it would be looked at as extremely immoral in future society no matter the reason for marriage given, this is of course if we are going along the fact that God is all knowing. Surely God would have somehow communicated this to Mohammed when he was first thinking about marrying this young girl, or even better yet God would have included the banning of child marriage in the Quran because God knows how wrong it is.
So if we are going to go along with the premise that Mohammed was indeed the prophet of God then we must assume that God is somewhat ok with child marriage if God decided to choose a man that was involved with child marriage to be his prophet which is quite disturbing. Again lets not forget that God would have known that Mohammed would be involved in child marriage well before the actual marriage took place because God is all knowing.
