This is a post I have been thinking hard about how to word, as I am very foreign to all of this, and as I do not understand the religious and cultural customs of Islam I want to be sensitive in my questions.
I would like to read the Quran to get a better understanding of Islam. I am wishing to find a deeper understanding of the world, and my spiritual connection to god. While I currently identify as a Christian, I feel it would be good to look at other faiths holy texts to gain a fuller understanding, and perhaps even challenging my own faith. I am open to what happens after reading. If after reading I feel my heart pulled closer to Islam, perhaps I have found greater spiritual enlightenment. I do not want to live my life having only reading one text and understanding one religion, because it is possible that I am wrong.
So to my questions. My first question is what translation of the Quran in English do you think is best to read? Does it depend for beginners such as me? And from there, would an annotated Quran be helpful? Or would it detract from the readings.
Thank you for your answers. I have come here genuinely seeking knowledge, and I hope any ignorance I may have shown does not detract from that.
