Surah Al-Hadid (Arabic: الحدید) is the 57th surah in Al-Quran. The word Al-Hadid means “The Iron”. Read the surah and more about it here at Al-Hadid.

Now some interesting facts about the surah:

  1. Allah mentions in th 25th ayah about sending iron from space and it being very useful for mankind. Science: Iron came from space and it is not native to earth. It is made inside stars and scatters in space when stars burst. Source

  2. In Arabic language the alphabet’s letters are assigned certain values and if we calcute the value of Al-Hadid, it is 57 (remember 57th surah!) and the value of Hadid is 26. Science: Iron’s atomic number is 26! Also, one of iron’s isotopes is iron-57! Source

  3. Surah Al-Hadid has 4 rukus. Science: Iron has 4 stable isotopes. Source

  4. Surah Al-Hadid is 57th of 114 surahs, i. e., in the middle of the order. Science: The earth’s core (its middle or center part) is believed to be made mostly iron! Source

  5. Surah Al-Hadid has 2475 letters, 29 verses, 575 words and is the 57th surah as abovementioned. Science: The diameter of earth’s inner core is approx. 2440 km (we don’t know exactly!), the core starts approx. 2900 km below earth’s surface and the temperature of the core is approx. 5700 K (again we don’t know exactly!). Source

Bonus: Allah mentions in 17th ayah that He gives life to the earth after its death. You may have read about how earth came into existence, it was a formed by debris from the sun (dead) and became liveable after it settled and cooled down (alive). Many scientists also claim that this phenomenon may have happened many times or maybe happening somewhere near other stars or even our sun.

57:17 “Know well that Allah revives the land after its death. We have made the signs clear for you, so that you may understand.”

So which of the favours of your Lord you are going to deny?
