March 2021

Hello brothers and sisters,

I am here today seeking knowledge,

I realized that the biggest thing that's not helping me progress in life is the fact i don't give enough credit to myself when i succeed and that i blame myself when i fail. I feel like it's a big issue since it stops me from progressing, everytime i fail i get mad at myself and it's very discouraging, mainly because i don't give myself enough credit.

Now here is where islam comes through: i truly believe that everything good comes from allah, and that everything happens for a reason, which means whenever i succeed, i give credit to allah and never to myself, and when i fail, i blame and hate myself.

But i feel like this dilemma is related to another dilemma i have where i don't know where destiny starts and ends, is allah doing things for me or am i doing them for myself? does everything really happen for a reason? Does everything good really come from allah? If everything good is from allah then why should i feel proud and happy when i succeed?

Thanks!

In the subcontinent, Muslims believe that all our fortunes for the next year is decided on this night. Does that have any Islamic truth to it?

Lets say, you didn’t or did pray for something on that night, does that mean your chances of your prayer being accepted for that thing are diminished since your fortunes were already decided on that night and you didn’t ask for it then? If everything was already decided on that night then will my dua still be accepted now?

I thought I read that some even viewed it more virtuous to start/recite on Thursday night, but please do not quote me on that, as I am not finding the reference currently.

So Cosmo

ColourPop So Cosmo Cheek Dew Serum Blush ($7.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a medium orange with strong, warm undertones and a soft sheen. It had a very fluid consistency that was non-sticky and emollient, but it was just overly fluid and seemed runny.

The product slid around my skin, especially during application, so it was one of the harder cream blushes I’ve had the unpleasant experience to test. These types of products are often billed as effortless, but I tried so many ways to get this to apply evenly and to build up coverage to no avail. It always had patchy areas where the color had moved around or lifted away, and this was true over bare skin as well as over foundation. It had sheer coverage, which wasn’t buildable, and showed signs of fading after five hours of wear.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have "buildable coverage" with a "hint" of dewiness that can be applied with fingertips, sponge, or a duo fiber brush and is recommended to be applied prior to powder products. I struggled to apply the formula, and I tried using fingertips, sponges, and various brushes both over foundation, under foundation, over bare skin, and even over powder (which is the opposite of what they say to do!).

For me, it seemed like the issue was that there was way too much slip in the product, so instead of applying and blending out, the color just pushed around. It had the worst application when I used fingertips to apply, which I'd apply by patting and pressing the color (gently!) onto my cheeks and using the edge of my fingertip to soften. This is my go-to method with cream-based cheek colors, and it usually works, but I couldn't get the color to stay and place.

I tried using a sponge, but the sponge seemed to absorb a lot of the color that it made it hard to get detectable coverage out of it. I found a stippling brush to work better, and I gently flicked the brush against my cheeks to deposit color, waited 10 seconds, and then tried to diffuse and even out the color. This worked somewhat and sometimes, but it did not always work, unfortunately, and when it didn't, there was almost no visible color.

Since it seemed overly emollient, for the majority of my application attempts, I squeezed out product on the back of my hand, so I could swirl or pick up product as it had dried out a little bit, but this did not help much! The "best" method I found was to gently dab the product onto my cheeks using fingertips, let it sit for five to 10 seconds, then use a synthetic brush to soften the edges with the gentlest touch and only do each area once, and then leave it alone and accept whatever the outcome was.

It did not play well with the various base products I tried--a mix of liquid foundations and tinted moisturizers, both set and unset--as it was prone to sliding them around or lifting them up. They were better over bare skin, but they were a real challenge to work with. They were also not buildable in my experience as this resulted in the first layer moving around and lifting away from the main area and leaving a raised edge of product.

The consistency was very fluid to the point where it felt runny; it would slide down the back of my hand with the aid of gravity and do so quickly. It took awhile to dry down, and it was somewhat movable with light dewiness in its finish but wasn't tacky. They lasted around six hours on me before fading visibly.

This book has good insights on the immorality of current economic systems, hence it can strengthen our resolve to move towards a more Islamic alternative, and it may even have insights into how to do so

I hope questions are allowed here. I was just wondering why, for most things the laws and tenets of Islam do not apply to people who do not practice the faith.

A Muslim would not say anything about a non-Muslim eating pork or committing shirk.

Why then, must non-Muslims conform to the rule of not depicting Muhammad. Why is it not a rule for only those who believe in the faith to follow. I ask this question with the utmost respect to your spiritual and individual beliefs.

Many thanks.

A’Salaam Alaikum,

"Verily! distress has seized me and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." so We answered his call, and we removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him (that he had lost), and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all who worship Us." 405. Even Moving obstacles from peoples paths is a great reward

Abu Hurairra (Ra) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), said,"A man passed by a fallen branch in the middle of the road and said, 'By Allah, I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so that it does not inconvenience them' and he was admitted into the Garden." [Muslim]

I know abortion isn’t allowed after 120 days and can even only be done in extreme circumstances before 3 months but what if they aren’t able to abort beforehand? What if they can’t afford abortion until after 3 months but they need to do it, like in the case of rape? Is it permissible, or Haram no matter what?

Polished

Melt Cosmetics Polished Cream BlushlightMelt Cosmetics Polished Cream Blushlight ($22.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a darker, pinky-coral with moderate, warm undertones and subtle pearl throughout a natural finish. It was richly pigmented where a little went a long way, and with the more emollient texture, it was easier to build up than it was to diffuse and sheer out if one over-applied.

The consistency was creamy, smooth, and emollient with good spreadability and blendability, as it did not look like it settled into my skin nor did it lift up base products when I tested it over foundation. With this shade, I found a brush gave me more even, blended results with less effort (which was how I applied it for actual wear; in the photos, I used fingertips, and I have some post-acne marks that are making it look a bit less even than it was to my eye in person–sorry about the state of my skin!). I felt like fingertips worked well, but it just took a little longer to get the best result. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.14 oz. - $157.14 Per Ounce

The product is primarily marketed as a cream blush, but the brand also stated that they can be applied to lips as well with some shades working as cream eyeshadow for a monochromatic look. There was nothing about coverage that I could find, though the brand's swatches--both live and in promotional images--were opaque.

The formula was lightweight, moderately emollient, and slightly gel-like, which helped it spread better over bare skin and over base products. Most shades were not prone to lifting up base products and worked well with both fingertips and brushes for application.

As the formula was more pigmented with most shades ranging from semi-opaque to fully opaque, I found brushes were particularly good at getting a sheerer, more diffused application, especially around the edges. If you want a sheerer effect, I'd recommend using less product and building up more as they were more pigmented than most cream-based blushes.

They dried down to a more transfer-resistant finish, so they did not remain emollient, which helped them last longer on my skin. They could still be blended out once dry, and if I rubbed with a fingertip, product would transfer, but the color didn't lift away if I had to brush a stray eyelash or hair from my face (as examples). They still had a natural sheen on my skin, less than dewy but definitely not matte either!

On average, they lasted eight hours on me with a couple of shades lasting a touch longer. I found the shimmer-less shades to last slightly longer in comparison to the shimmery shades, which were more emollient in the pan as well.
