As-salamu alaykum to all brothers and sisters in Islam and to all other members of this sub.
I have a question regarding renting. When paying rent to someone that purchased the property with conventional Mortgage are we in some ways indirectly participating in something that involves Riba and therefore haram ?
The landlord could for example be paying part of his mortgage with my rent payments.
I have been reading and researching a lot about halal mortgage options in North America and more particularly in Canada and I have come to the conclusion that there are almost no options or limited. Therefore I will be happy to continue renting until we have viable options. However I am not sure if just by renting and not looking beyond my rent payments I am not doing something wrong.
Can anyone lighten me up or give their thoughts on this ?
