The most glaring example, an adult Muslim has to follow all the rules (and discern which ones are the correct ones), while a child who dies young essentially gets a free pass.

It's debatable, but many say that people who have no knowledge of Islam neither accept nor reject it, and since they had no way of knowing the correct thing to do they get the benefit of the doubt. This would include people in remote areas, people in cults, the mentally incapable. Do these people have to try again in a different life? Do they automatically fail/pass?

And if knowledge of the religion is necessary to either accept or reject it, doesn't teaching people about Islam lower their chances of passing?

Lastly, if knowledge of Islam and its teachings aren't necessary to judge someone, that the above people can fail OR pass (regardless of having known Islam even exists and regardless of their adhering to it) based on their character or what they would have done or anything else, then why does Islam even exist?

I'm sorry if I'm completely missing something, I just don't understand and would like to
