Please guide me to the right path. I want to accept Islam but I need more answers before doing so.
During my research on the Abrahamic faiths I recently found out that people (mostly atheists) say the author of the flood/noah's ark in Genesis took the story from the Sumerian version called "Epic of Gilgamesh" which is dated before Judaism - 1800 BCE. I must say there are a lot of striking similarities between the two accounts.
I know this is r/islam and not r/judaism but I know the Torah , the flood, and Noah are mentioned in the Quran.
A Christian explained that the flood was a historical event and the description of it in the Old Testament is accurate whereas the Sumerian account is not.
What do Muslims think of this Sumerian poem from ancient Mesopotamia?
