importance of learning the rules of tajwiid, Arabic naxwa and arabic sarf

Very often we get stack understanding the quran or making sense of what the verses mean. In addition to using the Authentic hadith to explain the quran, we need some additional tools to understand more.

For example, rules of tajweed. This rules were not made up by the scholars but rather were taught by the prophet (SAW) on how to read the quran correctly and when to pause of stop etc. Stopping anyhow without following this rules could change the meaning of the qura. for example the famous verse which some modern scholars tried too cook meaning for it They ommited the fullstop here اِلَّا اللّٰهُ ​ۘ وَ الرّٰسِخُوۡنَ and they changed the meaning.

هُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡزَلَ عَلَيۡكَ الۡكِتٰبَ مِنۡهُ اٰيٰتٌ مُّحۡكَمٰتٌ هُنَّ اُمُّ الۡكِتٰبِ وَاُخَرُ مُتَشٰبِهٰتٌ​ؕ فَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ زَيۡغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُوۡنَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنۡهُ ابۡتِغَآءَ الۡفِتۡنَةِ وَابۡتِغَآءَ تَاۡوِيۡلِهٖۚ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ تَاۡوِيۡلَهٗۤ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ ​ۘ وَ الرّٰسِخُوۡنَ فِى الۡعِلۡمِ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اٰمَنَّا بِهٖۙ كُلٌّ مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ رَبِّنَا ​ۚ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ اِلَّاۤ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ

It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding .

Understanding the knowledge of sarf and understanding the root words is very important. Unlike how the quraaniyoon do it, which is playing with the root words until they develop something which suits their desires. Take the time to learn under an scholar this sarf. Its little bit hard but once you learn you will be able to gain more meaning of the quran. For example why does Allah use Qaffaar, Qafuur and Qaafir?? Same word but different sarf.

Another important factor is the knowledge of grammar/icraab/naxw for example below if you put kasrah in rasuulihi it will change the meaning and make the rasuul an object instead of the subject grammar rules

وَأَذَانٌ مِّنَ اللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ اللّهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَرَسُولُهُ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِي اللّهِ وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿٣﴾

And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah. And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment.

and the famous verse that still the anti-islamic preacher use today saying Allah prays for prophet mohamed(saw) The key is understanding cala/ilaa/li the difference between this letters which you learn in basic naxw classes ..the verse says prays upon/send prayers/blessings to not pray towards or pray for...if you know basic arabic rules, you in no way say Allah prays here.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓـئِكَتَهٗ يُصَلُّوۡنَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ ؕ يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا صَلُّوۡا عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُوۡا تَسۡلِيۡمًا

Allah and His angels bless the Prophet.106 Believers, invoke blessings and peace on him

lastly bonus verse of the day

فَمَا اسْطَاعُوا أَنْ يَظْهَرُوهُ وَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا لَهُ نَقْبًا

QURAN SURAH AL KAHF 97 IN ENGLISH TRANSLATION

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL

(18:97) So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration.

the translation says able in both cases, which is correct basically , but to appreciate why the difference in this verb got to learn the safr again. The meaning is the same but one is slightly stronger than the other.

Side note, Its compulsory upon us to learn the basic knowledge for worship and our life but if we want to engage in debate and question things, let us take the time to learn sarf,naxw,tajweed,hadiith,fiqh and etc. Put the time and effort in or respect the scholars who specialized in these field.
