And would you categorise Islam as an individualist or collectivist religion?
Personally? I would say inherently Islam is an individualist religion with collectivist aspects. I say this because our main purpose in life is to worship Allah so as to attain Jannah and avoid Jahannam. We will enter either of these destinations on our own.
All our deeds will only account for ourselves and, no one, not our mother, father, wife or children will necessarily come to Jannah with us due to our own actions. Ultimately it is upto Allah to decide. Collectivist because Islam wants us to spread the message of Islam to others and not just keep it to ourselves.
