Do any of you want working wives?

This guy I was getting to know with the intention of marriage straight up told me he doesn't want me to work if it means I'll have male colleagues. As you well know, it's next to impossible to work in a female-only environment. If I wanted to work in a nursery, perhaps, but I'm currently doing a Science degree. My subject is male-dominated.

I'm also a writer. He told me I can only have female publishers and literary agents because I cannot talk to men. He initially told me that a male agent would be a last resort, but then the very same day, suddenly changed his mind and said having a male agent is ridiculous and completely off the table.

I am at a loss. He told me to have a look at hadiths that prove women cannot work without the husband's permission. I did, and I found that he's right. Even if the wife puts a stipulation in her marriage contract that says her husband must allow her to work, he can prevent her if that work involves talking to men.

He says that if I disobey him in this matter, he'll be obliged (wajib) to divorce me.

So now my question is: would any of you let your wives work in a workplace where there are male employees? Or let her have male literary agents/publishers? The writing thing is probably a pipe-dream, but I'd like to at least try.

I'm not interested in answers from secular Muslims. No drinkers or fornicators. Real, five-times salah, zakat, sawm observing Muslims, please.
