Salaam,
I am a Jewish woman and I've recently become interested in studying Islam, trying to see if it might be right for me. I have a translation of the Qur'an by an Islamic scholar who was a convert from Judaism, which is a good perspective for me. I read it from time to time and have liked what I've seen. I've also had numerous conversations with a close Muslim friend of mine which make Islam seem like a logical next step in my journey in life.
I realize a conversion is a huge commitment, and requires a lot of lifestyle changes. How can I figure out if this is the right choice for me? I'm on the fence between simply reconnecting with my Jewish roots (I haven't been diligently practicing in quite some time) or taking the leap to something that potentially speaks to me more.
In terms of day-to-day practicalities, I also have some concerns. I dehydrate easily - how could I go all day without drinking water during Ramadan? Finding Halal food when out and about can be a struggle. Do these issues I have mean I'm not ready to make such a commitment?
Finally, are there any resources out there you'd recommend in order to help me arrive at a decision regarding this? From what I understand most people won't say, "Yes you absolutely should do this," but any help in figuring this out would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
