My dearest brothers and sisters,
I know we've all had issues with our parents before. Some of you have different ways of dealing with your parents, but I think we can all agree on the deep-rooted respect we must have for our mothers and fathers.
Believe me I'm not here to give you an earful, but I would like to share something with you. I went through the rebellious phase so believe me I'm not trying to virtue signal.
Right now depending on where you are at life, you may or may not have children. However the majority of you will go on to have children. Just you wait guys it's going to be a fun ride.
A few days ago I was holding my second born son, he was crying and I had a long day at work, I sighed a little and got on with the task of getting his nappy changed. I looked at him again, his small innocent eyes, he was completely helpless and relied upon me 100%. When he cried out he would ask for his mother or father only, nobody else mattered.
Many hundred sleepless nights, many tantrums and many bottle feeds later, many demands and much infantile anger....
We've all reached the state we are today simply because of our parents.
I cannot fathom how much pain and misery I must have caused my parents, but still they love me and care for me unconditionally. It's true it was their duty, but they still did it all out of pure compassion.
Dear brothers and sisters, what I am asking you should do is go and HUG your parents. Tell them that you love them.
Your mother? She dealt with you, carried you in her womb for months and months. She deserves undying love and respect. Changing nappy after nappy, breastfeeding you despite you causing her great pain, dealing with many physical issues because of giving birth, buying new clothes and taking great pride in every small achievement, recording all your progress in a book or with photos, she truly is your superhero. Nothing on earth can ever replace her.
Don't just kiss her, tell her that you respect her for what she went through for you. If you've ever had an argument with her, promise yourself you will never do so again.
Your father? He most likely faced humiliation at work to earn the extra penny, to buy you that extra toy, he took you to places you never thought you could go to, he protected you from the evils of the world. Despite being hollow inside himself, and often cried himself to sleep on some nights because he was worried about the finances, he still worked his ass off for you.
These are the superheroes you never hear about, these are the people you are told to disrespect. These are the people you are willing to throw behind, because you want to go to some party/ awesome event.
These are the people, who raised you without a second thought.
Make a pledge with Allah, you will try your best to treat your parents better. Treating your parents right could be the single ticket to heaven. All of your supposed good deeds, could become meaningless, if you break the hearts of your parents.
Please tell your parents that you love them, before it is too late.
