I asked my Imam what the requirements are for men's dress code. He said you have to cover your privates, cover your knees, wear loose clothes, avoid gold and silk and extravagant clothes, and avoid dressing like women. Me and 2 of my friends bodybuild, and I have a 4-pack while they have a 6-pack. My friends are telling me that we should go the beach to pick up women (in 3/4 joggers that cover our privates and knees, and nothing else). They're Shia so Nikah Mutah is allowed for them, and I'm unaffiliated but Quran-centric. I was wondering, leaving aside the Nikah Mutah aspect, is it permissible for men to wear what we're planning to? I couldn't ask the Imam directly about the beach because it would be awkward, but I asked that if there's a hot day is it permissible to take your shirt off in the masjid during Salah, and he said that in hot countries the working class workers often pray shirtless or use their shirts as prayer mats (and he said it's common and allowed).
