Hi all,
I was born and raised a Catholic until I left the faith at about 12 years old, to become an atheist. About 5 years later, I decided I believed in God again, and presumed that this meant I should be a Christian/Catholic again. However, the more I reinvested myself into what Catholics believed, I just found myself unable to believe in some of the things they taught. So I drifted around, looking for some sort of religion that I might call my own, even if I didn't agree with 100% of the things they taught.
Recently I began researching Islam. Obviously there is a lot of controversy surrounding Islam in the media, and so I was concerned about the religion as a whole until I did more research. The pieces of media I found really spoke to me in a way that Christianity hadn't, and I felt comforted, at home. Still, I obviously want to make sure that I would truly like said religion before I make any sort of deeper commitment.
I was wondering if you all had some sort of recommendations for resources that could help me find my way and decide what to do. Any advice as a whole would be appreciated. Or if you'd like, perhaps share some commonly used phrases? I'd like to be able to greet all of you properly 😊
Even if I don't join Islam, my respect for this religion has greatly increased, and I truly apologize for the hate you all receive on a daily basis.
