Selamun Aleykum Brothers and Sisters,
A while ago I discovered some pretty good books about personal how to get more productive, books like Think And Grow Rich, How To Win Friends And Influence People, Stop Worrying And Start Living, etc. But are we encouraged as Muslims to read and apply the lessons from these kind of self-help books? I read from Sheikh Yusuf Estes, who I value a lot that they lead one astray from the straight path because they redefine the way of life and that's how Shaytaan deluded the people. This might be true and so I'm a bit confused and need your advice. I want to become succesfull in the dunya so I can be save and provide for a family one day. But I don't want to lose my imaan, we live in dangerous times and have to be careful. My confidence is low already and I notice a lot of anxiety all the time. I don't know where my journey will lead me, I am deeply afraid really.
I started practicing actively last year but I feal burned out from the complexity of the deen. When my friends talk about religious topics I can't catch up and end up frustrated. I don't feel like I belong, socially I'm also awkward already plus the lack of knowledge and deep understanding leave me pretty worthless. I'm on edge all the time and don't know what to focus on. College? I feel judged all the time, from Muslims and non-muslims, I feel lost and only my faith and salah make me keep going. I try to uphold my connection to Allah swt but it gets weaker sometimes. What advice would you give me?
