So I need to buy a car and I don't have any savings. I live in a suburb where public transportation is crappy and you cannot function without a car. I used to share a car with my brother but he is moving away soon and taking his car with him. I have no money saved up. I have a decent job but unfortunately I live paycheck to paycheck because I'm currently supporting my entire family due to a myriad of reasons I won't get into. Basically, I don't anticipate being able to save anything for at least 5 or 6 months until these problems resolve. I have two options: spend ~ $250 a month on Uber or Taxi services for transportation or finance a car with zero money down and spend that money on a monthly car payment with interest. I'm scared of taking Uber or taxi everywhere because I'm a hijabi in a Republican county and I am afraid of being targeted by these Uber drivers who (in my experience) are almost always white males. I really don't want to deal in riba because I know it's haram but I don't know what else to do. Is there any way to get a car loan without interest? I know some places do 0% interest loans for brand new cars but in my current situation there's no way I can afford a $400+ payment plus insurance for a brand new 30k car. Are there any exceptions to the riba ruling when someone is in a financial pickle? Are there other options I'm not thinking of? Thanks in advance
