I think it's important to reflect on just how limited our imagination is when fictional stories and fictional characters are constantly being presented to us in various forms of entertainment. As human beings we don't actually have the ability to imagine something that is completely original. This becomes evident when we try to imagine something that is completely new or something that has never been experienced or seen before. Our imagination is constrained by experience, so every thing we think of, whether it's a fictitious creature or a different concept, will be composed of real parts or real phenomenon that already exist. Whether we realize it or not, every idea of ours is in some way derivative. All stories that have been presented to us are either inspired straight from reality or inspired from some fictitious work which in turn is also ultimately rooted from reality. It's why Hollywood quickly runs out of ideas and relies heavily on reboots, sequels and spin-offs with the same character tropes. The same stories get retold over and over again in different forms.

For people who don't understand this, i like to use the world of Pokemon as an example. For most pokemon, it's easy to figure out where they got the idea from. Every single one is based on a animal or some element in reality. If you try to come up with a new type of pokemon in your mind, you will be forced to base your idea on something that already exists. The same is true for every fictional creature or fictional world.

I mention this because i think it's important to realize how weak and limited we are. We know we can't give life to the dead. And we can't give life to the inanimate either. And i think we give too much credit to content-creators, who aren't really creating anything new. They are just taking something that already exists and manipulating it slightly into a different form.
