Maybe this stretches beyond Islam and becomes a cultural thing, so this may be in the wrong sub. By Muslim world I mean everywhere from africa to asia, but specifically the middle east, where Islam is the majority/official religion. I ask as I know at least in places like Dubai, if you aren't from an Arab family you don't get government benefits, I imagine even if you're a devout Muslim. I also know Arabs are generally associated with Islam and Europeans are generally associated with Christianity/no religion, so I'm also asking about preconceived notions/biases.
