I've done some research, and it appears that there are various views on this matter. I've heard that most shias deem it halal, Shafi sunnis consider it halal for men, but not for women. Have also seen various translations of the sahih bukhari hadith wherin the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) states that it is haram for women to tattoo others, and get tattoos done on them, but have also seen the translation where it applies to general muslims, so i'm dumbfounded. Is it haram or halal? I really really want one, and would probably get a temporary one done if permanent ones are haram.
