For anyone who learned American history, the US wasn't successful at all at banning alcohol. In fact, it leads to more problems for organized mafia groups and a dangerous unregulated alcoholic drink called moonshine. However, with Islam, it found little to no opposition. In fact, the city of Medinah smelled alcohol after all sellers spilled them after prohibition.
