Salams everyone,
So I recently met a girl who is Somali, and lives in another country. I am Arab. Everything, and I mean almost every single thing about our futures align islamically, and we agree on pretty much everything islamically. We have the same goals and outlooks when it comes to deen as well. Moving to the US would not be a problem for her as she has relatives in another state, so that process would be easier than not. I genuinely believe that she would help me get closer to Allah and she would be an amazing spouse. Financially, everything would be coming from me, and I will be prepared so that’s not an issue. I informed my parents of this person in order to look to make it halal, and they both said they would never consider it or accept it because she’s non-arab. They said they are afraid of miscommunication with her family, afraid of my children not speaking or knowing Arabic in the future, etc. They threatened to never talk to me again and not to ever accept us if I pursue to marry her, if Allah wills. They also say that I haven’t given them the chance for them to show me any prospects themselves. They just keep saying be patient. They’re trying so hard to convince me that it’s not haram what they’re doing. I ask them to provide ahadith and they’ve yet to do so. They’re making a huge deal about this, but I don’t know hot to proceed. I prayed istikhara and will be continue to do so. But I’m not sure what my course of action is from here on out. Any advice? I’m just afraid of the outcome.
