I work and have worked at multiple wildlife sanctuaries, and a massive part of my life involves wildlife and wildlife rehabilitation. I hope to go into avian veterinary medicine yada yada. Anywho, needlessly killing animals is haram, but what if those animals are invasive species causing issue to the existing ecosystem? For example, pythons in the everglades eating native animals should be eradicated. Thats a little easier to say because it's a harmful and physically dangerous animal as well and poses serious risk to people. But things like geckos and birds that don't agress against people is more of a grey area. They really cause a lot of problems to native wildlife and are causing endangerment and extinction to many native species. What can we infrence about islam's views of these things?

Bonus question: In the Galapagos, Australia, Hawaii etc, people are trapping and killing cats due to them bringing native species extinctinction. Cats have always had a place in islam/islamic history. What would the ruling be on this?

(Personally I don't kill things, but I belive there is permissibility in preserving natural order and ecosystems at the cost of removing alien species (despite how much I love cats))
