i also want to be a usefull member of the subreddit Islam community, so this reminder may be the best thing i can do, please invest 3-5 Minutes reading my bad english:

Many Muslims think, that "i do this and that sin daily" and are afraid to fall back to their old sinfull selfs and also die unexpectedly without even repenting once. I had that talk with a few of my ex co workers and he said "i dont feel that i am ready for this" (he was around 55 at that time):

i will share some Hadiths and Ayats about repentance and dont let Iblis whisper in your ear that you are not ready for it:

By Him in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with people who would sin and they would seek forgiveness from Allah and He would forgive them.Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2749, Grade: Sahih

Say, ˹O Prophet, that Allah says,˺ “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Surah Az-Zumar 53

As for those who repent, believe, and do good deeds, they are the ones whose evil deeds Allah will change into good deeds. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Surah Al-Furqan 70

Allah only accepts the repentance of those who commit evil ignorantly ˹or recklessly˺ then repent soon after1—Allah will pardon them. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. Surah An-Nisa 17

However, repentance is not accepted from those who knowingly persist in sin until they start dying, and then cry, “Now I repent!” nor those who die as disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment. Surah An-Nisa 18

Now i will just tell (afaik) the requirements for Tawbah:

  1. regret the sin
  2. Stop the sin
  3. make sincere intention to not to go back to that sin
  4. seek forgiveness from Allah (repent)

a good way to ask for repentance is:

Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibb al-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni

“O Allah, You are the Most forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

or you can repeat the dua of Adam Alayhissalam:

Rabbanaa zalamnaaa anfusanaa wa-in lam taghfir lanaa wa tarhamnaa lanakoonanna minal khaasireen“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”Surah Al A’raf verse 23

End

(please also make dua for me and my family )
