In regards to the concept of homosexuality and the LGBTQ+ ideology, this post clarifies our subreddit's stance towards it as it is a regular topic at times.

From an objective standpoint, there is no room for this ideology in Islam. We do not and cannot support this movement nor condone any sexual acts or lifestyles that result from this ideology. The references in the Quran are clear with regards to The Prophet Lut (Peace and blessings be upon him) in terms of our stance against it. Multiple references also exist in the Hadith. Our religion simply does not support this ideology, and by extension, our religion does not support same-sex marriages, gender transition surgeries, or any other extensions resulting from this ideology.

Given the above, we allow the following when appropriate:

  • Stating our religion's stance against this ideology in an objective and respectful manner.

  • Having professional and intellectual conversations about the topic among r/Islam Subscribers as well as visitors, both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

  • Posts about this topic which have depth and lead to intellectual discussions such as articles or videos by scholarly figures.

We will not allow the following and will remove comments and posts by users who attempt to:

  • Propagate hate or violence towards individuals that identify with the LGBTQ+ ideology.

  • Mock users or individuals of the LGBTQ+ community or mock the ideology at large (ie: slurs, jokes, as well as titles like 'lgbthgtv' etc. are prohibited).

  • Promote discrimination against individuals of this ideology for something unrelated to it (ie: Advancing discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals seeking a product/service/assistance).

  • Post low quality material such as Tweets, images, or simply state a position as lay people with no in-depth content for meaningful discussion.

  • Post material designed to incite users and create outrage.

  • Attempt to use vague language or tactics to advance any of the prohibited items above.

Bans will also be issued depending on the severity of violations. When appropriate, please give Dawah and convey our religion's stance on this topic using proper Adab, facts, and by being objective and respectful. There are both Muslims and non-Muslims who experience these tendencies and are genuinely seeking guidance and it is our duty to convey our stance in the most objective and effective way possible. Bringing individuals to the truth will not work with aggressive tactics, insults, or by ostracizing them. We encourage individuals to see truth by sticking to our principles, being both gentle and resolute in disposition.
