I begin with the name of Allah, all praise and thanks are for Him, and may peace and blessings be upon the one who was sent with a book & a sword as a guidance for all creation.
“How can God exist when there is so much suffering in this world?”
This is essentially a more fancy way of saying, “if god real, why bad things happen?”.
I’ve seen lots of brothers mocking people who are experiencing doubts with regards to this argument—but haven’t seen a lot of them actually refute it. I’ve made 3 points, and that should be enough.
Feel free to correct me, share some thoughts, add to it, discuss, etc. And all mistakes are my own, and any goodness in this is from Allah—not me. We ask Allah to purify my intentions, to forgive me if I am wrong, and for tawfiq.

This itself is a misotheistic argument. People who say things like this don’t necessarily disbelieve in God, rather they have hatred towards Him. Let’s see why this is ridiculous
1 - ** If nothing bad happened to us, through the entirety of our lives—would we even know happiness?
Think about it—everyday we live our ideal life, no trials, no ups, no downs, no deaths, no fear, and no saddness. If this was the case, would we even value the feeling of happiness?
No. We wouldn’t even be able to recognize that feeling.
2 - ** We have the pixel, and Allah has the picture.
Always remember the story of the people of the ditch. Think of the mother, who through her infantile son into a blazing hot fire.
You might think there is nothing good about this situation. But, Allah had other things planned—one can only imagine the reward that mother will get in the hereafter, the standing she will have on the day of judgement.
And those countless stories, where the brother frees from zina. He’s mocked, ridiculed, and bullied from all corners of society—he’s given all the labels one can think of. Then, Allah grants him and beautiful wife.
And remember all of those times you failed, or were rejected. No one on this earth likes the feeling of rejection—but every time you got rejected - you learned and improved. Allah ta’ala will give you & teach you in strangest ways.
3 - ** This life is a test from Allah.
Allah said in surat al-mulk: (( He Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, All-Forgiving. ))
What type of test isn’t difficult, and this is the test of all tests.
People will die, atrocities will occur, and all sorts of suffering will be inflicted upon you.
You can live an easy life, and fail this test. Or, you can strive against your desires, strive against the corruption around you, and maybe even take the bullet—and pass this test.
The choice is yours.
