I am 28F and just reverted in August, this is my first Ramadan and my first year paying zakat.
I'm unable to fast because of health reasons, so I've been planning on donating all my cash made this month to charity. One local, and one in support of Palestine. Alhumdulilah, I've raised double the amount necessary to make up my fasts and I'm very excited to donate.
However, I'm curious about any rules/restrictions on how/where to donate? I just got a call from my mother and they are struggling this month to pay their bills. Will giving money to my parents to help them pay their bills count as charity? Or is it an obligation to help them in this way?
