Hello everyone. I’m a Christian trying to understand more about Islam. My main question is: Did Moses institute a sacrificial system under God’s command? This is one of the major contributions of Moses in both the Jewish and Christian faiths. It would seem in both of those faiths it is believed that Moses instituted a sacrificial system that’s purpose was to atone for the sins of Israel. It is my understanding that Muslims do practice some animal sacrifice, but only as a commemoration of Abraham and his son, not as an atonement for sin. Do you think much of the Torah has been altered in regards to this sacrificial system? If not, why do Muslims no longer practice sacrifice for the atonement of sins today? Thank you.
