So basically I’ve been trying to learn about Islam for a long time but never had the chance of hanging out with someone wjo Practices Islam, anyways during this time in college I’ve come accros some jilbabis and I can’t stand their thoughts on HOW should Islam be practiced. Is this something that has happened to you guys who don’t come from a religious backaround or is it just me ? It’s like whatever I say seems to be offensive and it comes of as a “o my god I can’t believe you said that” , for ex. I say o haha did you see that tiktok of someone with hijab , right away comes the reply “astagfirullah that’s haram” or “oh hey happy birthday” or “it’s my birthday today” the reply “we do not and it’s completely not okay to celebrate anything besides EID”. And even tho these maybe be correct make me feel super uncomfortable because I can’t suddenly become another person and I do not want to feel like a foreigner with my family I feel like these type of people think that everyone’s lives is the same as theirs, and it makes me uneasy about Islam since it feels a bit suffocating.
