Assalamu alaikum, I know this sounds really strange, but I was having an open discussion with another muslim (I presume he adheres to the sunni-maturidi/ashari methodology) and this guy uses very kind language and labels me as a Kafir. These are his words:
"Please dont be offended, according to the ijmaa of the scholars, you are a Kafir"
All I said in the discussion was the following:
"Say, had there been other gods alongide Allah, they would compete for the Throne"(17:42)
"If Allah decides to take a son, He would choose from among whatever He wills to create"(39:4)
"Say, had the Most Merciful taken a son, then I would be the first one to worship (him)" (43:81)
Hypothetically, had there been a son to Allah, then that son would have succeeded Allah in being worshipped, and Allah has protective jealousy (gheerah) lest something else shares with Him in His right. Had there been other gods, they would all compete for sovereignty
Hypothetical scenarios are divided into 3 types:
1) that which is entirely possible but not yet happened 2) that which is entirely impossible because of a particular reason 3) that which is completely illogical and hence impossible (the category of our discussion)
This fool who claims on facebook to be from Bangladesh and having studied in a college in dhaka, comes up with so many explanations definitions using his rationale and laws of mathematics such as Reductio Ad Absurdum to deny physical qualities from Allah, but then quickly calls me a kafir for saying the above
His reason is that we are not even supposed to discuss the "ifs" and "hypotheticals", and therefore calls me a Kafir just like that.
I asked him how he would do in a discussion against a christian who believes in sonship of God, and he says that he would simply say "its illogical" without any further explanation. He also calls all the extreme sufis and shias (the common-folk included) as kafirs.
Now I don't know if I should take this joker seriously. I mean, I have had a history of OCD and anxiety lol, not that this has triggered my stress levels or anything. But I'm a bit concerned about the fatwas that he follows.
