I am in a point in my life where my faith takes up the biggest part of my choices. But some people consider it weird that I mention Islam in almost every situation
When asked about my goals for example, I mention educational goals, career goals, and faith goals, like memorizing Quran, reading and learning more about Islam in general. But it just seems weird to people that I have religious goals and that I believe that everything should be built around my faith and not my faith be built around everything else.
I was told today that it's fine to mention your goals when it comes to your education and your career, but keep religion to yourself, by a Muslim friend too, who doesn't even practice Islam but has good knowledge because he is 42, I am 22 and even if I say that educating yourself in religion is as important as working and learning anything else, he thinks that I don't understand how life works
Am I wrong here? Is it wrong to include my religious view on things, is it wrong to have religious goals and plan for them? Why does it only matter how I am going to get my degree or my next pay check? Isn't faith more important? Of course being educated is important, making enough money to support your family is important. But it seems like people's priorities have changed these days. Where it's ok to stress over material needs but not over spiritual needs.
Sorry for the rant. But I believe that your donya should not make you neglect your deen.
EDIT: Thanks for the support and understanding everyone. I feel alone cause of this, no one around me really shares my values, which is sad since I live in an Arab city around Muslims. I'm just gonna put my trust in Allah and hope he guides them.
